Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
The Backstreet Boys will be on an all-music edition of "Who Wants to Be A Millinaire" on Valentine's day, Febuary 14th. Nick and Howie will be in the hot seat, but the rest of the boys might show up as a lifeline. All the winnings will be donated to the Boys charities, including the Dorough Lupus Foundation. BSB Shatter International Sales Records!
In the United States alone, ``Black & Blue'' (Jive) sold 1.6 million units in the six days from its Nov. 21 street date, enough to replace the Beatles at the top of the charts. To clarify, N SYNC's record of 2.4 million during first week sales was in the US only. Therefore BSB take the largest title of all: International Record Breakers. BSB Battling Booze
Backstreet Boy AJ McLean joins a string of pop stars that are sliding downhill. AJ admitted recently that he's battling booze and severe depression that’s left him Black & Blue. Maybe we should stop asking about the shape of his heart and start asking about the shape of his liver. AJ told Rolling Stone magazine he had a nervous breakdown last month and said he started "freaking out" while sitting in a car outside a pool hall in Orlando, Florida. (Source: Muchmusic.com)
Black and Blue: Update
BACKSTREET BOYS have signed a contract with Wal-Mart to have an extra track on the BSB albums. But you can only get the bonus track CD if you purchase it at Wal-Mart! (Thanks to Carol from Toronto) Toronto's Kiss 92fm will have a Black & Blue release party along with BSB themselves. The interview will feature Kiss 92fm's morning crew, Mad-Dog and Billie. They will interview the boys and feature the brand new music from their forthcoming album. The interview will be live at 9pm on November 17, 2000. (Thanks to Carol from Toronto)
Nick Carter Has Another Career
Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys is co-managing an unsigned Tampa, Florida based alt-rock band called born Into Kaos. Nick Carter was in Los Angeles Friday (October 20) for the group's show at the Viper Room. (Thanks to Katherine from Deer Park)
BSB Get Black and Blue
The new Backstreet Boy's album will be titled "Black and Blue" and released November 21, 2000. The first single will be released to radio stations on October 3, 2000 and the title will be "Shape of my Heart". Thank you to Katherine H of the USA. The new album will be issued worldwide the week of November 20, with a U.S. release date set for Tuesday, November 21 on Jive.
Howie Planning Solo Shows
Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough will mark the second anniversary of his sister Caroline's death with two benefit shows in her memory. Howie will perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on September 13 and Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 15 to benefit the Caroline Dorough-Cochran Lupus Foundation. The shows come on the heels of a June 25 Lupus 2000 benefit concert at Universal Studios in Orlando at which Howie helped raise more than $100,000 for the fight against the disease. "This disease took my sister from my family," Howie said in a statement announcing the shows. "It means the world to me to have friends, family, and the public to help find a cure for lupus. Hopefully, in the near future, a cure will be found and no other family will have to endure such atragic loss as our family has endured." While prepping for the solo shows, Howie is still maintaining his Backstreet duties, which include preparing for the November release of BSB's next album. -- Robert Mancini
BSB Nominated, Receiving and Releasing!
Congratulations to the Backstreet Boys! They took home the award for "Choice Album of the Year" at the 2000 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Be sure to tune in to Fox on August 22 at 8pm to catch it! The Backstreet Boys have been nominated for a People's Choice Award in the MuchMusic Video Awards 2000 (Canada). They are up for "Favourite International Group" and are up against Limp Bizkit, Santana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and N SYNC. Vote here. One of the original pieces that can be found on the upcoming Burger King promotional CD's is the next Backstreet Boys single "It's True". The release of the fourth album is anticipated November 21, 2000.
Aaron on Tour with ...
Oops... Aaron did it again! He will be touring with Britney Spears starting July 31, 2000. Click here to check out the schedule. In other Aaron News... his single will be released August 1, 2000 and his album will be released September 25, 2000.
Aaron's Comeback Party is Coming!
Aaron's new album Aaron's Party (Come Get It) will be in stores in September! Plus a special video preview featuring 5 videos from the new album, interviews and other cool stuff will be out in August. Aaron's single "Bounce" will be released July 25, 2000. It was originally set for June 20, 2000 but it was decided releasing it then would result in potentially too many out at the same time by JIVE Records. Tour Info There has been a rumor that Aaron will again be on the Nickelodeon "All That Music and More" Fesitval . This rumor is not true. Leslie will be on the Nickelodeon tour, but not Aaron. Aaron's summer tour has not yet been announced, but dates will be announced soon. We will let you know when they are.
