PJ Harvey Videos
TO PJ HARVEY FANS! I lost my tape of "Down By The Water". While I'd love to get a copy of the video again, what's more important is the many people who haven't seen that video. This is a call to PJ Harvey fans with the videos on tape and video digitizing equipment: Pleeze digitize full-length PJ Harvey videos and put them on the 'Net. MTV has always been a real bitch about showing her work (seriously, when was the last time you saw a PJH video on MTV?) and none of the streaming video websites (Musicvideos.com, Streamland, etc.) will show videos by her or any artists on Island Records. So pleeze pleeze pleeze do this if you can...
A videography for PJ Harvey. Information on this is undeniably very skimpy, so I need your help on this. Please send video summaries and anything else you can help out with. There are also video clips for some of the vids - right click on the picture and select 'Save As' to download the video from MTV. All videos are directed by Maria Mochnacz except "Broken Homes", which was done by Theodore Witcher.

Dress (1992)

"Sheela-Na-Gig" from Dry

Sheela-Na-Gig (1992)

Concert footage mixed with arty shots.

50 Ft. Queenie (1993)

The male members of the band perform while Polly Jean, wearing sunglasses and a fur coat, walks around looking mighty peeved. The walls are painted, featuring the first lyric "Hey I'm one big queen".

Man-Size (1993)

A one-take video.

"Down By The Water" from To Bring You My Love

Down By The Water (1994)

PJ Harvey wears a red dress in this video, her most popular one. It shows her singing against a black background, as well as behind a green silk sheet. Harvey's also shown throughout the video floating on the water, being pulled in, and eventually (apparently) drowning. The video closes with a shot of a rose along the water. This video got a nomination for Best Female Video in 1995's MTV Video Music Awards.

C'mon Billy (1995)

Shows P.J. playing her guitar and singing in a house in the desert.

Send His Love To Me (1995)

"Is That All There Is?" from Dance Hall At Louse Point

Is That All There Is? (August 1996)

P.J. Harvey up on stage singing like a lounge artist. Also shows her standing in a hall.

"That Was My Veil" from Dance Hall At Louse Point

That Was My Veil (November 1996)

P.J. Harvey and John Parish observing each other through cameras, as far as I can tell.

"Broken Homes" from Angels With Dirty Faces

Broken Homes (May 1998)

This song is actually by Tricky but features vocals by our own PJ Harvey. I haven't seen the video, but the clip features a funeral possession and a lot of pouring water.

"A Perfect Day Elise" from Is This Desire?

A Perfect Day Elise (August 1998)

Shot through blue-tinted lens in a strange house where people do strange things. Polly Jean is among them, and she certainly rubs her temples a lot (about as much as she did that hand on the belly thing in DBTW). There are odd visual effects that recall Floria Sigismondi.

The Wind (December 1998)

PJ Harvey in a car - that's all I know about it :-(

MISCELLANEOUS VIDEOS

C'mon Billy [Live from 120 Minutes] (Date Unknown)

Her eyelashes are too damn freaky in this performance.

Wang Dang Doodle [Live from MTV Studios] (Date unknown)

Thanks to Catherine De Barra for informing me of the song title.

You can also view PJ Harvey video stills at the PJ Harvey Still Gallery at the Music Video Repository. This area only has one still not on this page, though (a 100x75 still for "Down By The Water"). There are other stills at 50 Ft. Queenie for "Broken Homes" and "A Perfect Day Elise" if you want to venture over there. You can always request stills (though they have to come from the clip) by E-Mailing me.
