Backstreet Boys Bigger Than McCartney?
April 5, 2000

The Backstreet Boys are on course to smash Paul McCartney's pay-per-view Internet record as fans clamber to catch their heroes semi-live.

German-based web wizards MCY filmed the first two shows on the Backstreet Boys world tour in Pennsylvania and have since edited the footage, adding exclusive backstage chats and fun, for a chunky piece of net-only pop power.

And just 17 days since its launch (March 15), the hit rate on the website is set to soar past Paul McCartney's gig at The Cavern, which was picked up by more than 50 million fans, by the end of the month (April).

McCartney will also be filming Puff Daddy's Wembley Arena, London, shows this weekend for a future web broadcast. -- Kevin Lewin (WENN)
