"Bernard Edwards taught me to play bass."
How many bassists can make that statement?

Countless bassists began their careers picking out the slamming rhythms
created by 'Naad, with his band Chic.
Bernard formed the band with Nile Rodgers. Power drummer Tony Thompson completed the rhythm section. The group created some of the most memorable sounds of the Disco era, like "Le Freak", "Dance, Dance, Dance" and "Everybody Dance". But it was Bernard and Tony who perfected the driving beat that defined Disco. During his spare time, B'naad began producing. He started out with Chic albums and graduated to perfecting the sounds of The Jacksons and Sister Sledge. |

With the close of the '70's, and the end of Chic, B'naad turned his attention to
producing. Once again, he
had you on your feet and dancing to such artists as: David Bowie, Duran Duran,
Mick Jagger, Madonna, Power Station, Diana Ross, Rod Stewart and many others.
The '90's were no different. The man was in demand as a producer and as a performer. He and Nile joined forces to produce a new CD called "Le Freak and Other Treats" which features covers of Chic tunes; as well as one new track. New technology and a new generation brought a new audience to B'naad's rhythms. Some say his bass lines are the most sampled in dance and rap music. |
