Chapter 4

The phone downstairs rang. "Hello?" AJ answered.

"Hey, AJ. It's me."

"Oh, hi, Brian. Wuz up?"

"Nothing really. Except we need a miracle for today's game."

"Why?"

"Because Kevin hurt his ankle this afternoon."

"Oh, shit. We can't let those guys beat us," AJ said. Suddenly something came to his mind; "My cousin can play."

"Is he good?"

"She," AJ emphasized, "was the varsity captain at her school."

"A girl? You want a girl to beat Justin?"

AJ laughed. This will defiantly work. "Don't worry Brian. She's good."

"You better hope so!" Brian warned. "Anywise, have you heard about this girl that Nick met today?"

AJ chuckled. "No," he lied. "I haven't spoken to Nick."

"Well, let me warn you- all he has been talking about is her."

"AJ!" Cris yelled.

"Hold on Bri," AJ said putting his hand over the telephone receiver. "What, Crystal?"

"Come up stairs."

"Alright," AJ said. "Brian, I have to go. I'll see you later."

"OK, man. Bye."

"Bye," AJ hung up and walked upstairs. "Yes, your highness."

"What should I wear?"

"Something you can play in."

"What? You never told me I was playing!"

"Well, you are going to need to. Kevin hurt his ankle."

"Can't someone else play?" she whined.

"No, Cris," AJ said walking into her closet. She had a walk-in closet. He grabbed a pair of baby blue shorts and a white tank top, and threw them at her. "Here you go," he said. "WE are leaving in about 15 minutes."

"Fine."
