Small Hand Gun (199-? ) :- Interviews/Articles

'Small Hand Gun - A Touch of Class', Punter's Club Form Guide, Issue 46, p 45
Raw new rock n roll band from Sydney who deliver rough 70's style tunes with style. The twin female vocal attack is excellent (they mention Lita Ford and Suzi Quatro in the press release!) and this is equal parts Sex Pistols, L7 and The Ramones.

Gray, Denis, 1997, 'Small Hand Gun - A Touch of Class', Vicious Kitten Magazine, Issue 6, p 16
Small Hand Gun are a three chick, one guy (now two-girls, two guys ed.) outfit outta Sydney and their debut EP 'A Touch of Class' is loaded (scuse the pun) with energy and sneer lipped attitude. Their teen punk melodies have rightfully drawn comparisons to the mighty Runaways, yet the voltage on this disc at times hurtles toward Red Aunt territory.
'In the USA' ignites the fire; a raucous riff-coated journey where the pedal never leaves the floor. Think Spitboy in fourth gear. Awesome. 'Hey Ray' is a two and a bit minute delight with a big thumping chorus and snarling vocals that are guaranteed to cause dizzy spells. Dunno 'bout Ray cuttin' the mustard but this lot sure can. 'Basket Case' is red raw and shit hot with a definite live feel to it. Imagine this song being blasted out at CBGB's with the sweat dripping from the ceiling and you'll know where I'm coming from. No time for a breather on this EP as the amped up strains of 'Rat Girl' clearly show. It's the simple, grinding chords of this track which are the key to it's potency. Last song 'Wig' provides the final knockout punch with it's fiery lead breaks and a hard-as-fuck chorus! Sign me up now! "take off the wig and get down". Glorious noize for these crazy mixed-up times.
'A Touch of Class' is a no frill, three chord punk outing containing five high octane tunes which fucking rock!! Definitely a band going places and one to watch. Pencil this sucker on your Christmas list and be the envy of your friends.
