Chapter Two
'
'Girls.' I heard my mom say softly as she opened my bedroom door.
May, Krista, and Angela had spent the night at
my house the night before the concert so we could get up early and
drive to SparkleFalls. 'Girls.' She said, little louder
this time.
I looked up and rubbed my eyes.
Krista shot straight up. 'Oh God, i've been waiting
for you guys to wake up! I've been awake since 6am this
morning!' She shrieked.
I rolled my eyes. Then looked back over at my mom. 'Okay mom,
I'm up now.' I looked at Kirsta and smiled a fake
smile . 'Thanks to Krista's little scream of a wake up call!' We all
laughed.
My mom smiled. 'Okay girls, breakfast is downstairs waiting.'
My mom shut the door and left us. I sat up and
stretched.
'I think I'll skip breakfast this morning.' Angela informed
us.
'Why?' I aksed.
'I don't want to look puffy at the concert.'
I stared I astonishment at her. Then I rolled over clutching
my stomach and laughing.
Angela was a gymnast, and she was tiny. There was NO WAY in
this world that she could EVER look puffy! No
matter what she ate. Her usual lunch at school consisted of a bag of
Lays patato chips, a small cup of icecream, a twinkie,
and a Yoo-Hoo! Chocoalte milk to drink. In fact,. all my best
friends were that way. Tiny, little skiny things who
worried about being fat they were way under weight for their ages!
It made most people sick to look at them in fact.
Especially Angela.
'Angela, never, never. In a million YEARS
could you ever look puffy!' I said, sitting up and wiping the tears of
laughter from my eyes. 'None of you! I mean, look at you all!'
I got up and walked over to my dresser. I dug through all my clothes
until I found what I was looking for. My JNCO
jeans and a a white shirt that I got from Delias', with SUGAR written
in big Purple letters and silver specks of sugar
around it. I yawned.
'Leah!' I heard May shout at me. I spun around.
'mmm hmm?' I asked.
'Leah, do you have any idea where we're going to today?' She
asked me.
'Uhhh yeah May, I do. To a Hanson concert.' I smiled.
'Then WHY on earth would you wear those skater clothes!' She
looked disgusted.
'Ummm. Why wouldn't I?' I asked her rolling my eyes.
'We're going to see HANSON! You know! Zac! Don't you want to look good
for him!' She exclaimed. Zac was 14, like
me, and my favorite Hanson. I loved his goofy ways!
'May, personally, I don't care what he thinks I
look like! I mean, I like my clothes, this is the way I dress! Even
though I care about him, why should I care what he thinks of my clothes!?'
I inquired.
'Couldn't you at least wear a Hanson shirt?!' Krista asked.
'Well, no. Considering the fact that my only Hanson shirt is Angela's
favorite, and she insisted on wearing it today. But I
don't mind, really. You guys, settle down!'
'Well, can't you at least do something
with your hair? Something different!?'
I laughed. These guys were my best friends, don't ask me why, they
just were!
'NO!' I screamed laughing. I went into the bathroom to
take a quick shower and change. I braided my shoulder length
brown hair into two neat braids that hung at my sides, just above my
shoulders. Then I walked out.
'Oh. Well it's better than I expected!' Krista exclaimed,
smiling.
'But what about your eyes, Leah!? Aren't you going to do something
to make them stand out!' Angela scolded me.
Angela was like the beautician of our gang. She loved May's style,
Krista's creamy tan skin, and my green eyes. I just
laughed at her. 'You guys hurry up and get ready! We've got a half
hour now before we leave! And you won't get to eat
if you don't hurry up!' I said as I proceeded to walk out of the room.
'And don't even think about saying you'll look
puffy!' I screamed as I walked down the stairs.
