Eve 6 Tour Heats Up as Tour Bus Burns Down, New Single Most Added at Alternative and Rock
Label Newcomers are Unhurt, Unbowed as MTV Campus Invasion Tour Continues
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 25 PRNewswire -- RCA Records recording group Eve 6, whose self-titled debut album was recently certified platinum, are finding not only their career is on fire. Currently on the road with Third Eye Blind on the ``MTV Campus Invasion'' tour of colleges, the band's tour bus burned to the ground after an apparent electrical short circuit, leaving them stranded in Birmingham, AL.
``Everything I have is gone,'' lamented bassist Max Collins, reduced to the clothes on his back, three CDs and a charred jersey he wears on-stage every night. Fortunately, Collins was able to save the lyrics he's been writing since the band started touring with Third Eye Blind last Spring. In fact, no one was hurt and, since the equipment was being carried in another truck, the group lost only a single acoustic guitar, though most of their
personal items went up in smoke.
Actually, the band finding themselves on a rare off-day, were inside the club at the time jamming with Third Eye Blind. Drummer Tony Fagenson was the first to spot the burning bus as he emerged after the show, but couldn't put out the flames with fire extinguishers as the bus rolled down a hill. Third Eye Blind saved the day, by giving Eve 6 and crew a ride on their own tour bus for the next night's show at the Civic Center in Thibodaux, LA.
``At first, we were all head-tripping about it,'' recounts Collins, whose book of lyrics was the only irreplaceable item in jeopardy. Luckily, only the book's cover was charred, while all of Collins other possessions were lost. ``This morning we woke up feeling a lot better. The whole experience brought everyone together and let us realize we have it pretty lucky.''
Indeed, the newcomer's dynamic rookie year continues, with the band's first single, 'Inside Out,' now Top 15 in Billboard Monitor and the new single, 'Leech,' is #1 Most Added on Alternative and Rock radio this week. The video for 'Leech' is currently being shown on MTV. Eve 6 wraps up the current leg of their college campus tour December 5th at Cal State Bakersfield before embarking on a European jaunt in January. The group will begin their own headlining U.S. tour in February to run through May.
