Sam Goody in Yorktown Shopping Center was packed to the rafters Saturday with screaming music fans for an appearance by modern rock sensation Eve6.
Currently they are riding the music charts with their smash hit "Inside Out."
Hundreds of fans waited for hours the see the group, which played the Aragon Ballroom Friday night in between Third Eye Blind and Dovetail Joint.
Phil Delin of Lombard didn't make it out to that show but was glad to check out the band for free at the local mall.
"I have their CD and have heard them a lot on Q101," he said. "Their music is catchy, and some of it can really hype you up. I can see these guys sticking around in the future, and I will be a fan for a long time."
Erin Herdman of Lockport agreed and added, "I came to get an autograph because I like everything about them. Eve6 has a cool style that is not like everybody else's, and I also like their lyrics."
Jen, "The Overnight DJ" from WKQX 101.1-FM, also noticed the band's growing appeal, with additional evidence from the mob scene at the store.
"This is really an exciting event for us, the band's record label, the store and of course the fans," she said. "Eve6 has done well on the charts and their new sings called 'Leech' has started to get air play."
As for the store, "sales were extremely high, and we were glad that fans could spend time with the band on a more personal level," said Kevin Basham, manager of Sam Goody's Woodfield Mall store, which hosted a similar appearance for the band in Schaumburg in June.
When all was said and done, the members of Eve6 collectively gave their thoughts in a statment. For them, seeing so many excited fans at Sam Goody was "fantastic - we love Chicago as well as meeting new people and making new friends!"
