After doing the pomp-and-circumstance thing, most high school grads just want to kick back and relax before the real world sets in. Not so with Max Collins. After nailing his diploma last year, he and his buddies Jon Siebels and Tony Fagenson plunged right into the working world. Of course, the job awaiting them was a little more exciting than most: The La Crescenta, California, trio had a major-label contract with their names on it. "We got signed our junior year in high school, and we knew we weren't going to put out the record until we graduated," Collins say. "But during those two years, we started to learn different aspects of the industry and how things work. What was probably most surprising to me is what a small step actually getting signed is, and how difficult it is to really get the label to know ho you are and make a record that people are totally into." Eve 6's self-titled debut is chock-full of high-spirited playing and ambitious songwriting. Collins & Co. still wear their influences (everyone from Tom Petty to the Dead Kennedys) on their sleeves, but the potential is also clear- not just in the music, but in the attitude behind it. "I knew even before we got signed that if music could work, that would be ideal," Collins says. "So when we got signed and started to see there was a good chance of it working, I knew I wanted to put everything into that. This is exactly what I want to do."
