spin style, going home with harvey danger. by suzanne mcelfresh. (i dont know who took the photos)
say home and the members of harvey danger are likely to think of a motel room as the place they hang their hats. Ever since their flagpole sitta single became a summer radio anthem, these seattle based new new wavers have been crammed in a van together, staring down miles of hard road. but the band recently spent a welcome break lounging at the cozy aboud e shared by cocalist sean nelson and drummer evan sult, a charming prewar two bedroom in the emeralds city capitol hill district. while nelson desdcribes his interior design aesthetic as "late post c ollegiate hypermasculine chic" the apartment was actually decorated by sults girlfriend. "shes given it a womans touch." nelson says. "shes a woman and shes touched the apartment"
sean can cook: checked hotpads and a striped apron ad down home flavor to a meal of vande kamps fish sticks, served with a chipotle tartar sauce and a garnish with a sppring of tarragon. "only the best! thats my motto!" nelson says.
couch trip: nelson relaxes on "my girlfriends ex roommates grandmothers couch" an arresting but tasteful 1970 piece with its original flowered chintz upholstry. "lots of people have lived on that sofa" he says. "you wouldnt want to lilft up the cushions" nelson has written manyh a lyric in the comfy blue reading chair, borrowed from bass player aaron huffman, whod borrowed it from his girlfriend. the stuffed puppy, a gift from nelsons loving mom on his 25th birthday, is the bands current mascot. lam p by ikea.
