"It's just this romance I've got
with the whole idea of suburbia. It actually does spark a little
fire in me whenever I see anything connected with it, I don't know why."
High:"
'The Drowners', I think that's a great single, I really like it, it was
an important record. What everyone was waiting for. It's well-recorded-I
like everything about it. I always listen back a lots of the stuff
we do, and think that I could have sung it better. I'm often guilty
of over-singing which I'm gonna make sure I'm not guilty of on the next
album."
----- Brett when being asked about his " Highs
and Lows" of Suede singles
"I wouldn't really want to (dress like Liam).
Yeah, you can put a sheet on someones head, but you whip the head off and
you're still the same person." When being asked whether he wanna join the
wave of laddism.
"I
love it when clowns from other bands slag us off, 'cos it means they're
obsessed with us. And they're obsessed with us either because they're jealous
of our music or they've nicked ideas from us."
Brett's
self narrative on the "He's Dead" performance --- " I always envisioned
that as an Indian funeral lament - with me as the bride being led to the
funeral pyre."
"I'm sure there are people who like us
just because they think we write good tones, but there's a huge element
out there who really are Suedeheads."
"You always have to be what you are pretty
much and the music has got to be pretty much tied up with you personality
and how you live your life, otherwise it becomes incredibly false."
You do get manipulated a lot by the media,
though. Every fuckin' photo shoot I turn up at there's a fuckin'
feather boa in the corner! The only reason there is always one there
because I've always refused to wear the fucker.
"There
just are some people that I find are suede people and other people just
aren't"
