MUSIC REVIEWS

LAGWAGON - "Double Plaidinum"

Lagwagon is a typical sk8 band with cool edges and riffs plus an aggresive style with fast songs and beats. If you're into sk8 music I can recommend Lagwagon's "Double Plaidinum".

MILLENCOLIN - "For Monkeys"

The 3rd album by these four Swedish guys. They have the same intensity, but the sound is a bit lighten up. Not so hard on this album, but you still recognize Nikola's awesome vocal and the typical Millencolin sound, the sk8 & ska punk influence. The best track on this album is in my opinion Lozin' Must, but it contains several cool songs such as: "Boring Planet", "Monkey Boogie", "Twenty Two" and "Light's Out". Not a boring song on the "For Monkeys", all are just...great. This album is definitely one of the best ever. It's a must and one of my faves.

NO FUN AT ALL - "The Big Knockover"

The coolest album from these guys ever. The songs "Catch Me Running Round", "Should Have Known" and "Sorry Lad" are probably the coolest tracks, but the rest are really cool aswell. It's worth more than a listening. In other words: go and buy it!

NOFX - "So Long And Thanks For All The Shoes"

This album is the best NOFX material ever. Cool and fast songs are their main recipe, and they combine the sk8 punk to cool ska. Songs like: "It's My Job To Keep Punk Rock Elite", "Kids Of The K-Hole", "Murder The Government", "Monosyllabic Girl" and "All Outta Angst" make you wanna feel go sk8boarding and BMXing. An album every sk8boarder and snowboarder just gotta have.

NO USE FOR A NAME - "Making Friends"

If you like the sk8board/snowboard scene you should check this album out. No Use For A Name has again made a great album. The opening track "The Answer Is Still No" is a really great song including "Growing Up", "A Postcard Would Be Nice", "3 Month Weekend" and "Sitting Duck". We knew that No Use For A Name was a great band that played great sk8 music. The four guys in No Use For A Name (with a new member) show us why they still rockin' hard.

PULLEY - "60 Cycle Hum"

This is Pulley's 2nd album. The first one, "Esteem Driven Engine", was (and it's still) a really cool sk8 album. "60 Cycle Hum" is not bad at all, but a little difference in the sound is markable. On this album the bass sound is not so hard and compact compared to their 1st album, but it still rules. My fave songs on "60 Cycle Hum" are "Havasu", "Scab", "Hold On" and "Noddin' Off". The band is great, and after all; so is this album.

SKANKIN' PICKLE - "Fever"

A ska band with some punk influences and awesome tunes! This is one of my faves, no doubt about that! A band that plays great and awesome ska which make you feel moving feet and skank. Not just one of the best ska bands, but also one of the coolest. The song called "The Hussein Skank" is the best song on the "Fever". If you haven't heard of Skankin' Pickle, go and buy this album by these American skanksters and you'll see why this is presumably the best band ever! I just can't live without 'em.

THE BUSINESS - "The Truth The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth"

The Business's last and best album. These Englishmen play real punk rock/oi/street music. Rebellious music for the people. Really good punk/oi/street that you just gotta hear. "Spirit Of The Street" is the opening track, a really, really cool song. Other songs you punk rockers should straighten up your spikes and mohawks for are: "Blood Ties", "The Truth The Whole Truth And Nothing But The Truth", "Justice Not Politics", "SE12", "Crime Of The Century" and "Hardcore Hooligan". If you ask me, a really good one: "Southgate (Euro 96)", is a parody of England's Euro 96 song. The Business's version is nothing less than cool. This album is for the terraces, punk rockers and the left-wings. One of my fave bands and definitely my fave street punk album.

BLINK 182 - "Dude Ranch"

The guys in Blink 182 have always been a happy sk8 band. They play really cool and great music. This album is one of my faves because it has cool riffs and happy lyrics for the happy punx. The song called "Dammit" is my fave song on the "Dude Ranch" album. If you don't like this song something's wrong. It kicks ass man! This is an awesome album totally! ...not to forget...: AN AWESOME BAND!

DANCE HALL CRASHERS - "Honey, I'm Homely!"

SKA! SKA! SKA! Got it? Ska rules...yeah it does! Ever heard of Dance Hall Crashers? Check this album out and you'll see why "Honey, I'm Homely!" deserves a top review. I don't know what to say....umm....this band kicks ass!...and so does their latest album. It contains awesome ska songs combined to poppy punk music. DHC's female singers show us that girls can sing in a ska band. My faves on this album are "Lost Again" which is the opening track, "All Mine", "Salted", "Elvis & Me", "Cold Shower", "Mr Blue", "Big Mouth" and "Over Again". If you didn't know, Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman from Rancid have played in DHC! When you've heard DHC once, you gotta hear them again and again and again and again and.....SkA fOr LiFe!!!

SAVE FERRIS - "It Means Everything"

Yeah it means everything! This is another ska band that plays ska combined to poppy "punk"...sort of punk....umm.... Save Ferris's female singer Monique Powell shows us why she's cooler than No Doubt's Gwen Stefani. She has the right girlish attitude and she really knows how to sing on this awesome album. The best tracks on "It Means Everything" are in my opinion "The World Is New", "Nobody But Me", "Little Differences", "Spam", "Under 21", "Everything I Want To Be" and of course the cool cover song on Dexy's Midnight Runner's "Come On Eileen". This album is a must for everyone who likes ska. I can't live without Save Ferris. One of my fave bands and fave albums.

THE SPECIALS - "Guilty 'Til Proved Innocent!"

Here they are again. Another cool ska album by a living ska legend. Well actually a band that has existed for heaps of years. They're a.k.a. the kings of ska and they still play the same cool Jamaican influenced ska music as they've always done. Some say ska is a trendy wave, but The Specials are not trendy 'cause they are kings under the file of SKA. Just check out "It's You", "Bonediggin'", "Keep On Learning", "Stand Up", the reggae inspired "My Tears Come Falling Down Like Rain", "The Man With No Name", the fast "Running Away", and of course the awesome "Fearful". By the way, Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen from Rancid appear on "Fearful" with cool vocals. I can recommend this album 100%. If you have no idea what ska really is, you ought to check "Guilty 'Til Proved Innocent" out. This is pure ska at its best. The kings of ska are still alive and they kick ass!

LIBERATOR - "Worldwide Delivery"

Swedish bands can play ska. Liberator can, will and is one of today's most interesting up-coming ska bands, although they've existed for years. "Worldwide Delivery" is their 2nd full length album. They've got their influences from several ska bands....The Specials....Bad Manners....just to mention a few. The two best songs on "Worldwide Delivery" are presumably "Christina" and "Kick de Bucket". "Back In Standard Gravity" is another cool old school ska song. "Your Way", "Hot Pot".....yeah cool ones and Liberator attracts attention with their happy style of ska, and I really think they deserve that. Check it out now!
