Alanis appeared on Good Morning America on December 17th. While on the program, it was announced that Jagged Little Pill has been named Album of the Decade!!!! Are we proud or what????!!!!!
Alanis has written an original song for the Dogma soundtrack called "Still", and is rumoured to be on the next album coming out (VERY TENTITIVELY) in 2000. There's a lot of stuff going on in December...The Rolling Stone magazine, the appearance on Rosie, and many other miscellaneous things. In other news, I joined the Alanis Morissette Mailing List, and so I want to send a big shout out to all those, if any who see it. Anything that there is to say about Alanis, you'll find on the list. So if you don't mind getting like, 50 e-mails a day, This is the thing for you.
ALANIS MORISSETTE and TORI AMOS - two of rock's most compelling figures -
will join forces this summer for the "5 1/2 Weeks Tour," a major U.S. tour of
indoor and outdoor venues. Kicking off August 18 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, the trek
will encompass 26 shows and conclude September 25 in Irvine, CA.
Known as uncompromising and highly individualistic singers, songwriters,
musicians and performers, MORISSETTE and AMOS decided to tour together
because of their respect for each other's music and vision.
Says MORISSETTE, "When I was still living in Canada, I remember listening to
'Little Earthquakes' and feeling heartened and inspired by Tori's courage
and unapologetic honesty. She was like a breath of fresh courageous air. I look
forward to playing with a woman whom I will be touched by nightly on a
musicial, intellectual, spiritual and emotional level."
AMOS says, "Bringing two visions together to make one show can be tricky, so
obviously, it takes a lot of mutual respect and a load of gear. With that in
mind, Alanis and I are bringing two trucks just for ourselves: one filled
with wine, the other filled with lip gloss.

Ah yes, Alanis has been getting so much publicity lately. Just today, it was announced that she spent time in a nudist colony and studying yoga while on hiatus. I'm not really sure what the next big event will be, although the Grammy Awards weren't that long ago...i suppose we'll just have to watch for her coming to a city near you. c'est tout!
Well, what can I really say? not too much has been going on ;) no, our girl has only released her new album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie and her single Thank U. She's appeared on such shows as The Late Show with Dave Letterman, Saturday Night Live, and Rosie O'Donnell. She has completed her fall club tour, and is up for her major "Junkie tour". So SFIJ isn't as popular as JLP (hey, i'm the biggest fan, but it had to be said) but that doesn't mean that she's lost her fan base!
Oh my lord! alanis just finished her set on Saturday Night Live!!! This is the time when i'm so excited i feel like i'm gonna burst! ah, the joy of being young and "infatuated" :) She played Thank U first, and she couldn't get the smile off of her face, and her stage presence was very relaxed. Then, was the long, hard wait for the second song, waiting in anticipation to see if I could figure out what it was. It was Baba, and I'm in love! I can tell right now that i'm going to be just as addicted to this cd as the last!!! anyone who missed it should deeply regret it! agh!
On KROQ in California, "Thank U" was heard and the lyrics can be found on this site. Listen to those radios!!
Morissette talks about Dogma(Courtesy of Mtv)
Contrary to popular belief, angst rocker Alanis Morissette actually likes to have fun every
now and then -- and on the set of her new movie "Dogma" she did just that. The
Canadian singer/songwriter plays God in an upcoming comedic Kevin Smith movie that
also stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, and Smith himself.
Though Morissette didn't really jump at the chance to flex her acting muscles when first
offered the part at the end of her "Jagged Little Pill" tour in 1997, she later rethought the
idea of playing God and gave it a go. "I had spoken to Kevin when I got off the road
about the movie," Morissette told MTV News this week in explaining why she's glad she
took the part. "I read his script and I thought it was really brilliant. I think he's totally
brilliant and I had just gotten off of the road, like I said, so I was really tired and I don't
think I was up for it. And upon rejuvenating a year later, I was talking to him and he said,
'If you're up for it, come on down,' and I was and it was really simple. Really, I felt very
inspired in that environment. Very safe. It's gonna be great." The move turned out to be a
freeing one for Morissette, who has acted in the past, but has devoted much of her energy
to her music as of late. "It was quite funny for me. It enabled me to tap into something, tap
into a part of me that I haven't been able to," Morissette said. "My music, a lot of times,
tends to be quite serious, but there's a part of me that's not serious at all. So, I love
tapping into that and I might at some point with my music. I think I do with my music to a
certain extent, but in this case, I was able to tap into that with Kevin. He's extremely
funny." Smith, the film's writer and director, is best known for such films as "Clerks,"
"Mallrats," and "Chasing Amy." "Dogma," an updated version of the Bible, is expected to
be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May and open nationwide in October of 1999
via Miramax Films.
Alanis Morissette's first album in three years, "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," will
finally arrive in November, and according to Alanis, the time away has been beneficial for
a number of reasons. Morissette has been virtually invisible while crafting her follow-up to
"Jagged Little Pill," and spent a good portion of her break traveling through India. The
singer sat down with MTV News' John Norris this week and said that the time away
granted her some mental breathing room, as well as a new single, "Thank U." "Basically, I
had never stopped in my whole life, hadn't taken a long breath, and I took a year and a
half off and basically learned how to do that," Morissette told MTV News. "When I did
stop and I was silent and I breathed... once I got through everything that inevitably sort of
came up because I was silent and ready to deal with things. I was just left with an
immense amount of gratitude, and inspiration, and love, and bliss, and that's where the
song came from, you know." The effects of that voyage can be heard on "Thank U," the
first single from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," which will hit radio in late
September. Morissette will take her new material on the road with a 12-date club tour
that kicks off on October 11 in Santa Cruz, California. (Courtesy of Mtv News)
