Carley's Wonderland Review

Alright, I'm sure all of you have heard that Hanson was at Paramount Canada's Wonderland on August the 16th, 1997. Well, me, along with 15000 other screaming fans were there to cheer Hanson on! I had the most amazing time! So, you want details? Then read on!

Okay, I arrived at Wonderland at approximately 10:10 'cause there was a major traffic jam. The park opened at 9:00 just for YTV's(Canada's #1 kids' t.v. program) annual Psyko Blast! I met my friend at the entrance and entered the park with her family. She and her mom had decided to go on this ride called Drop Zone(the name says it all!), and I had to wait for over an hour for them to get off! Anyway, I went on this ride called The Nightmare, and it was way cool! As soon as we got off of that ride, we ran to get in line for a rollercoaster, The Wild Beast. I don't think I've screamed so much in my life, before! We went on a couple of other rides before we decided to leave her family and head over to Kingswood Music Theatre, where Psykoblast was held. By that time, it was about 3:30. As soon as we entered, though, we realized that we sould have come earlier 'cause the place was packed! My friend found seats in a wheelchair section, but we only sat there 'cause a guard gave us permission to. They were pretty bad seats, but I had a pretty good view of the stage. The crowd was so psyched, that at the mere mention of Hanson, they would freak!!! People were chanting and screaming for Hanson, and this was at about 4:00! The concert doensn't start till 7:30! Anyway, at about 5:00, Hanson made an appearance! As soon as they set foot onto the stage, everyone jumped onto their seats! They threw koosh balls into the audience, and I think Tay was about to throw a stuffed animal, but I guess he decided not to, 'cause he walked off stage with it in his hands.

About an hour and a half later, at 6:30, my friend and I got kicked out of our seats! Can you believe it? The lady said that they were bringing people down in wheelchairs, so of course, we moved. But when we turned back to see who had taken our seats, we were outraged! These people weren't even in wheelchairs! But, in my opinion, we found better seats. We were in the centre and closer to the stage. The stage crew had already begun to set the stage for Hanson. Fans went crazy when they brought the drums, keyboard and guitar out!

Anyway, it was 7:20, and PJ Paul(PJs are the YTV announcers. PJ Todd is the hottest! If the crowd wasn't cheering for Hanson, it would be for PJ Todd!) and PJ Phil came out to announce Hanson!! Everyone jumped onto their seats again! I had to stand on the ARMS of my chair to see! The crowd was getting restless, but the PJs liked to tease. Anyway, finally, they announced Hanson and they ran out! The screams were deafening!! Tay was yelling things out, but he didn't have a mike, so we couldn't hear. Zac grabbed a mike and said, "I would like to congratulate all of you for reaching 140 decibels!" Ike repeated that and everyone screamed like crazy! They had a question and answer period from 7:20 till 7:30, but it was kinda hard 'cause everyone was soooooo loud!!! One girl tried to ask a question, but couldn't. Tay tried to help by saying, "You guys, we're trying to do something here..." he got cut off by the screams. Zac was all smiles, Ike started laughing, as did Tay. Then he said, "You guys are too loud!" More screams! "We told you that you had reached 140 decibels before, but I think you're at 145 now!"(Tay's quote.) Since we wouldn't shut up, PJ Paul said, "Okay, we'll ask the questions, then. So, how are you guys enjoying Canada?" Tay grabbed the mike and yelled, at the same time as Ike, "You guys rrroooocccckkk!" The fans freaked! I really felt sorry for the parents that were there! My eardrums nearly popped! Then they took questions from people in the front. One girl asked if Tay had a girlfriend. "No, none of us have girlfriends," was Tay's answer. Another girl actually asked Tay out! Ike answered this one, "The problem is that if we go out on a date with you, then we'd have to go out on a date with all of you, and that wouldn't work. But we want you to know, that...We love you guys!!!" Zac took the mike and said, "Instead of going out on a date with you, why don't we sing for ya?" Ike repeated that, and everyone freaked, again! They took one more question, which was, "What kind of music do you listen to?" Tay answered, "We gotta do this quick. Let me just say that we listen to anything from En Vogue to Aerosmith."

They're music's sooooooo awesome and being HOT is a definate bonus, too! Here's when they got ready to play. Tay got his tambourine and Zac got his shaker thing. Obviously, Ike had his guitar. They let us, their fans, sing MmmBop. Zac was like, "Wow, this is cool!" Tay: "You guys can really sing!" Zac:"You guys know all the words!" Before they began to play for real, Tay asked the crowd some questions. "How many of you have the album?" Everyone raised their hands and screamed!! Ike:"You know, there are more people here in Canada, per capita, that bought our album than in any other country!" AAAHHHHH was the reaction they got!

They sang six songs. First, Madeline(which was awesome) then Man From Milwaukee. Everyone freaked again when Zac did his part with the megaphone. I couldn't make out the words! Afterwards, they went to their real instruments and played Thinking of You, Where's the Love, Minute Without You, and finally, MmmBop. I keep repeating this, but they were amazing!! Tay kept asking us if we were having fun! He was sooooo into it! He was dancing, playing and encouraging us to clap and sing with them! He was awesome on the bongos, too! Zac's performance on the drums were great! I still don't know how he can play so well! You'd need sooooo much co-ordination, the way he played! Ike, he was fantastic! I love his guitar part in Where's the Love! They were all great!!!

Ya wanna know what they wore? Well, since other people were asking me about that, I'll tell ya anyway. Tay wore all black. Black jeans, black tee. Ike wore a brown shirt and red pants. I can't believe what Zac wore! He wore a LONG-sleeved blue shirt, zipped to the neck and black baggy jeans! It was soooo hot out! I was wearing a mini tank top with shorts and I was boiling! You could also tell that they were really hot 'cause they were drenched in sweat! Tay's face was all red! I loved Tay's performance on the keyboards in Thinking of You, it was amazing! When they were finished, Zac took his bottle of water and poured it over his head! They did their bow, then Tay got his bottle and flung the water out into the crowd!! I repeat, it was great! I couldn't believe it was over. Everyone was just about leaving, but my friend and I were like, "Encore!" Others were doing the same, too. Hanson came back out and sang MmmBop a capella!!

I still can't believe I saw them! We couldn't get autographs 'cause the security guard told us that Hanson left right after their performance. For some strange, unknown reason, Zac seemed kinda quiet throughout the whole concert. He didn't say much, and when he did, he wasn't loud enough! At one point during the concert, Tay asked, "I heard that there are people here from all over Canada. Is that true?" Everyone screamed, of course. "Well, we appreciate you waiting this time and coming all this way to see us! Hope you're having a great time, 'cause we sure are!" I don't know why I just told you that... Anyways, I read in the newspaper that there were about 15000 of us there! There were 5000 more people at a performance in Australia, but Ike said we were louder. Ike's quote: "Obviously, Canadians have some lungs!"

After the concert, about 8:00, my friend Stephanie and I got on another ride. Most people had left after the Hanson concert, probably thought the park was going to close at 10:00. But for some reason, it stayed open till 11:00 that day. Anyway, this really hot guy that controlled one of the rides told us that Hanson went on Top Gun, this wicked @ss rollercoaster! He also said he heard the whole concert from where he was working! Wow, we were that loud! Anyways, that's it. I had a blast! I hope they come back to Toronto!! Guys, guys, guys! Hanson, Hanson, Hanson!!!

****Despite what the guards were telling fans, I found out that Hanson didn't leave the park till, like, 9:50pm!!! My friend Laura's friends were sitting on the Great Canadian Mindbuster (a rollarcoaster by Kingswood) BEHIND them!!!****
