What exactly is it?

Music is one of the biggest parts, probably the biggest part, of raving. Many people then question what kind of music are at raves and some ravers don't even know what they are listening to. Is it hip-hop? Is it rock? Is it disco? Is it pop? Well, the answer is in none of these and all of these. While none of these genres are specifically played at raves, all of these styles of music have influenced the type of dance music typically played at raves today.

Where can I find this music?

The best place to find rave music is at the actaul event itself. There are usually one or two tables at raves that sell tapes and CDs. The retail stores (like Tower Records) are starting to have a moderately good selection too under the heading of Dance. If you are living in Southern California, a good station is Groove Radio 103.1. Also, tune in to Power 106 from midnight to 4am on Saturdays to check out there weekly show called PowerTools, featuring the latest in house, trance, jungle, and techno.
