BLAST-OFF!

This page contains information and images of my first band…The Blast-Off Brotherhood. Don't look for any of our records, because we don't have any, but if you knew any of us, then hopefully this page will bring back some fond memories, and maybe even jerk some tears.

I, Dan Cameron, founded the Blast-Off Brotherhood with my pal Dan Spencer in spring of 1996 in San Antonio, Texas. I was sure that the band I formed would be a surf band, and as I look back, I am not disappointed. Dan and I sought a drummer, and found one in my friend Chris Vivion (who, by the way, is now pursuing his own musical interests in Waco). We also scrounged up a bass player in my friend Brad Hinch. Neither Brad nor Chris worked out (conflicts of interest). We found a new drummer named Joe "The Tool" Liller and a new bass player named Karl "Mr. (soon to be Dr.) Monotone" Hardy. Our band was blasting off. With the creative genius of myself, and the tight musicianship of the rest of the band, we had teenage girls screaming and teenage boys dancing and beating people up all across our little part of North East San Antonio. We only played out once, but I'm satisfied with what we achieved. We opened for Spies Like Us at the White Rabbit for the 1st Annual Ska Hawaiian Luau. We didn't really fit the bill, but the crowd seemed to take to us well (all twenty or so of them). It was the culmination of all of our hard work and trials and tribulations. (Now go back and read this, but without taking it so seriously...)

Enough background. Here are some pictures.
