Back from the vacation, picking up updates:
After 5 fantastic weeks in Florida, I'm back in town and was on my first show last Sunday after
the vacation. HIGH VOLTAGE has relocated the studio when I was away, and I have to say that it is
for the BETTER!!!! The studio is very well renovated, and it is located smack in the middle of
Oslo downtown. It's good to be back presenting the music we all love, METAL!!!!!
Album Of The Year 2002:
Last Sunday (March 23rd), we aired the ALBUM OF THE YEAR SHOW 2002. First of all, we
will THANK all of you Metalheads who helped us out by sending in your votes to us!!!
Without you guys, it would not be any ALBUM OF THE YEAR SHOW.
A total of 89 CDs were voted for this time. We're happy to stage this Album Of The Year
event this year again. As you may know, we were not able to do so last year, due to various
reasons. However, the inportant thing is that the event is BACK!!!!
click here, and check out the TOP 50 List. From that page,
you can click your way through the lists of 1991-2000 as well. Have fun!!!!
The H.V. playlist available on the Net 1-2 hours before the show goes on the air:
Yepp, you'll be able to preview the playlist 1-2 hours before the show goes on the air.
As soon as we've finnished the playlists on Sundays, we put it out on
Scream Magazine WEB-BOARD for
Announcements. Look for HighVoltage in the Author column, and you'll find the list.
I guess it's kind of nice to see what's coming your way through the PC speakers if you follow the
instructions below:
You can check out our show LIVE on the Net every Sunday, 9:00-11:00pm
(cet), (3:00-5:00pm New York time) by going to this address:
www.lytte.no, scroll
down to Radio Oslo in the page and click on LYTTE to the right of Radio Oslo.
Updating the WEB site started up:
The radioshow has been on the air since July 14th, but the WEB site has not been updated
since then. The reason is simply the fact that my back fucked up in the end of June, and I
was confined to bed since then. Hehe, this may sound like really nice just to relax in the
bed all day long, but let me tell you, I rather run around on my feet, no question about it!
It's incredibly boring. Well, my back is feeling just fine, and I'm back on the show, and
I am also starting up the updates of this little shitty WEB site.
As mentioned before, you can check out our show LIVE on the Net every Sunday, 9:00-11:00pm
(cet), (3:00-5:00pm New York time) by going to this address:
www.lytte.no, scroll
down to Radio Oslo in the page and click on LYTTE to the right of Radio Oslo.
HIGH VOLTAGE ON THE AIR (and NET) AGAIN JULY 14TH:
After months of frustrations, HIGH VOLTAGE is back on the air (and Net)! Some weeks ago, we struck a deal with
RADIO OSLO, which will ensure us airplay for a looooong time. We'll be operating under the TOPP RADIO monicker,
but we will be distributed on the air by RADIO OSLO. We'll be on the air every
Sunday 9:00pm - 11:00pm (cet) on FM101,1. You'll be able to catch the show LIVE on the Net
aswell at the same days and time, thanks to
Ståle Lorentzen. He's providing us with the Streaming features, and
you can tune in to it by clicking 56KB or
128KB.
However, there will be no further updates until I'm back from my vacation August 11th. But the show will go on
during my vacations on Sundays 9:00pm - 11:00pm (cet). IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK. Tune in and blow your speakers to the
best METAL there is!!!!
HIGH VOLTAGE is OFF THE AIR!!!:
January 29th is a sad date for HIGH VOLTAGE and represents a closure of a chapter
in the HIGH VOLTAGE story which is 15 years long. We've been on the air once a week for 15
years without missing a single show in all that time. During all that time, the
HIGH VOLTAGE TEAM have been doing this show purely for the love of the greatest music
in the world, METAL!!!!! We have not earned a dime, but last night, the power of comercial
forces catched up with us. A couple of hours before we went on the air, without any
warnings whatsoever, a representative of our owners stepped up in our studio and told us
that they were no longer interested in supporting the HIGH VOLTAGE Metal show
anymore. They needed our 2 hours airtime each Tuesday for a new, comercial show in order to
make as much money as possible from advertisements. In other words, yet another mindless
show on the air with muzak music for airheads you'll find all over the radio frequencys
these days. 10% editorial program, 90% advertisements. We were stunned by the news of
course, because they have never breathed a word about this to us before last night.
When they bought us in September last year, we were very excited by the fact that we would
move over from the old analog studio to a modern digital studio and we were looking
forward to the whole thing. Well, things turned from excitement to frustration when we
experienced the unavoidable technical problems in the beginning getting the show on the
air. We were surprised by their lack of interest in helping us out with the problems we had.
Starting today, we will be looking for a new radiobroadcaster who will like to bring
HIGH VOLTAGE back on the air. The show has become an institution in the Metal
scene here in Norway, so we feel pretty sure that we will be back on the air again.
We just don't know when.
The Album Of The Year 2001 will of course not be aired due to the latest developments.
Also, there will be next to no updates of this website until we're back on the air. However,
I'll keep an eye on the Metal gigs as usual, so I'll try to keep the gig list above updated.
In the mean time, please contact us at hivo666@hotmail.com
if you have something you would like to share with us.
I will notify you all as soon as we have something to report. One thing we can promise:
WE WILL BE BACK ON THE AIR ONE DAY PRESENTING THE GREATEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD, STAY METAL!!!!!!!
Latest news about HIGH VOLTAGE:
As of September 1st, TOPP RADIO/High Voltage have new owners. There will be
no changes in the scheduled broadcasting. We'll be on the air as always every tuesday at
8:30pm-11:00pm on FM101,1. The biggest change so far, is our new studio. Last Tuesday, we
had our first broadcast from our new studio, located in the Aker Brygge complex in
Oslo. We've moved from an analog studio to a digital studio, which will enable us to
make the show better, technically. We're looking forward to explore the new studio in the
time to come.
New WEB-board:
InsideTheWeb.com, our WEB-board provider, is closing down March 5th. To be
honest, our Board was kind of boring anyway. Well, notime to sit around, we just had to find
another provider and this time we landed on ezBoard.com. We are very happy with the
new board, because it really looks nice and it has given us the oportunity to categorize the
Board into 10 different Forums, which makes it a bit more structured for both me, as an
Aministrator, and the users of course. Hopefully, many of you Metalheads will click in and
start using the Board. The more people using it, the more interesting it will be. So have
fun, click here and
enjoy the Board!

The HIGH VOLTAGE WEB-site is ready for updates again:
Yes, I'm back and ready for the updates again! as you know, I've been away for over 2 weeks now,
due to critical illness in my family, but I'm happy to say that the situation is now off the
critical list, and I'm back in Oslo ready to rejoin the world of Metal! Speaking of which,
I was down at the Rockefeller last night checking out the SCREAM MAGAZINE 10th Anniversary Party.
A very good turnout and people seemed to have a good time eventhough it was a Monday night.
There were 4 bands on the bill:
SUSPERIA(no): Not really my cup of tea, but they did an OK gig. Very good musicians, but the sound sucked!
SPIRAL ARCHITECT(no): The Gods of Technical Metal! Unbelivable musicianship, and a great show. The sound was a bit on the downside, but not bad.
EVERGREY(swe): Never seen them Live, but I really like their records. Good show, but they might have mixed the long songs with shorter ones.
GAMMA RAY(ger): The Headliners of the night. First time in Norway. Kai had some trouble with his guitar during the first 2 songs, but it didn't really
matter. I saw their awesome show at Wacken in August, and I knew we were in for a great gig. In short, they came, played and conquered.
Finally, thank you, SCREAM, for an excellent party, and for the glorious 10 years you've given us. We're looking
forward till the next 10!!!
Andy Reisert (ANDY REISERT NATURAL DISASTER) visiting HIGH VOLTAGE -AGAIN!!!:
There seems to be some certain signs telling us that the summer is over and the fall is
setting in. The normal signs would be all the people coming down with a cold or something
similar. However, we, the The HIGH VOLTAGE Team actually have a unique sign of what
time of year it is, and that is: Andy Reisert from ANDY REISERT & NATURAL DISASTER
is back in Oslo for his annual weekly vacation. Last year, he came over the last
week of October, and he enjoyed the stay so much, he said he'd be back next year. And so he
is! He flew in from Middletown, New York last Wednesday (Sep. 27th), and we've
tried to keep him busy since then till he's returning back home on Friday Oct. 6th. Last night,
he was our special guest in the radioshow. He brought his new CD-single The Red Light Of
Dawn to the show and we played the song Buried Alive. Actually, the CD-single is not
really ready yet. He still has some work to do on the title-track before it's ready to be
released. This time, he teamed up with KAOS OF ORDER vocalist Pamela Dixon.
He wanted to experiment a bit in the vocal departement and judging by the song
Buried Alive, the vocal chemistry seems to be working very well. The songs on the
CD-single will be included in the new full-time CD he and his band will be working on in
the time to come. Pamela will be doing vocals on more songs on the new CD, which will
have the same title as the new CD-single, The Red Light Of Dawn. This will be the
follow up to their last album Time Of Aggression which was released early this year.
It was great fun having him as our special guest in our show and we will be looking forward
to receive the new full-time CD of course, and we hope to have him back in the studio soon.
Finally, the band has put up a WEB-site, so if you like to check out Andy and his
band, click on
ANDY REISERT NATURAL DISASTER
SOUND OF NOISE:
It's a great pleasure for me to inform the Metal Hordes that Sound Of Noise,
the Numero Uno recordstore for Metal in Oslo, NORWAY, has put up a WEB-site! Rune Hammer,
who's been working his butt off to get the Store going, can offer the Metal fans just about
anything they could possibly ask for. Sound Of Noise has been an important support to
High Voltage and we really hope this new venture into Cyberspace will generate some
more business for him. Allthough the Site is in Norwegian I guess people from other
parts of the Metalworld will have some fun checking out the Site anyway.
Click on Sound Of Noise
and check out the Site and see what he has to offer. Way to go, Rune!!!!
WACKEN OPEN AIR 2000:
WACKEN OPEN AIR 2000 is history. August 3rd-5th, headbangers from all over
Europe (the High Voltage Team included), and from other continents came
together to the biggest Metal Festival in Europe. I wonder what the people of
the little town of Wacken, Germany are thinking of such a hairy crowd, but I'm sure they'll
welcome us year after year. Headbangers might look spooky, but we're generally a very nice
bunch all things considered. Last year was great, but I think this year was even better.
First of all, as always, the leading Metalbands once again hailed the stages making the
Festival a climax for all the Metalfans. A couple of changes in the arrangement made the
whole thing smoother and better, I think. They used 4 stages instead of 5 and they reduced
the number of bands. This made it a little bit easier for the fans. The fans could take a break
without missing too much of the action and the bands got more time on stage. Also, the
W.E.T. Stage and the Party Stage was outdoor stages this time. They were
bigger than last year and allowed bigger crowds which was good.
A couple of things on the downside must be mentioned: I think the sound from the Black
Stage and the True Metal Stage was not as good as last year in general (a few
bands had a good sound though). On the other hand, the smaller stages actually had a very
good sound in general which infact balanced the whole thing. I didn't like the way they
separated the smaller stages from the bigger stages with all these food stands and booths.
Last year, you could actually see what was going on, on all the stages regardless of
which one you were standing in front of.
All and all, W:O:A seems to get better every year, so The High Voltage Team
is looking forward to meeting the Metal crowds again next year. BE THERE!!!!
Improved Linkpage to the bands:
I guess many of you may have been 'pissed off' about the randomized linkpages we have
in our WEB-site so it's about time to improve some of the disasters starting with the
linkpages to the bands. I'll keep the GIF related pages though, just to maintain
some sort of irritation, but the Text Only page has been changed and improved.
First of all, the bands has been sorted alphabetically. Secondly, the design has been
changed.
Click here and check it out.
Andy Reisert (ANDY REISERT & NATURAL DISASTER) visiting HIGH VOLTAGE:
Last sunday (Oct. 24th), Andy Reisert(Bass/Vocals) from the band ANDY REISERT &
NATURAL DISASTER flew in from New York for a week long vacation in Oslo. His visit
over here brings back memories of my visit to SEASONS OF THE WOLF in Florida last
year. It's the same thing. I've been in contact with Andy through E-mail for quite
some time since I dig his bands music. We've presented some of their songs in the
radioshow, and after a while, he decided to come over to Oslo for a short
vacation. We picked him up at the airport and brought him safely to his hotel in downtown
Oslo and we're spending as much time as we possibly can together with him,
taking him around Oslo, showing him the sights etc, to ensure that
he'll get the most of his stay here. Yesterday, we had him on the show which was great
fun for both him and ourselves. During the show, I think our listeners learned a lot about
his band and the Metal scene in general around the area he lives. He brought a brand new
3 track demo-CD and we played one of the new songs, Pain And Suffering, which sounded
great! Andy told us that this song + 6 more new songs will be included in their
first fulltime CD they are going to start working on when he's back home. The title of
the new CD will be Time Of Aggression. Before we went to the studio, we stopped by
Sound Of Noise, which is the best Metalrecord store in town. Andy had some
tapecopies of the first demo, and the new one and some T-shirts which he handed over
to Rune who runs the store. Rune will give these items away for free to anyone
who asks for it until it's all gone.
We're wishing Andy and his band
all the luck in the world with the new CD and we're looking forward to checking it out as
soon as it is available. In the mean time, we'll make sure he'll have a good time during
his final days here in Oslo before he's returning back home on Saturday.
WACKEN OPEN AIR '99:
At the Festival's 10th anniversary, the whole HIGH VOLTAGE Team took off to check out the
Festival, which takes place in the tiny town of Wacken located an hours drive Northwest of
Hamburg, Germany. WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The biggest and best Metal Festival around. If the Muslims
have to visit Mekka at least once in their lifetime, then every Headbanger have to visit the
WACKEN OPEN AIR FESTIVAL at least once!! Just about all the influencial Metal bands
was on the bill and it was a treat for every Style of True Metal. A few bands were cancelled,
but else, the whole thing went like clockwork using 5 stages on Friday, and 4 stages on Saturday.
A big hand for the people behind this event is really called for, way to go guys!!! HIGH VOLTAGE will be going down to this Festival
every year from here on after and so should all of you. See you at the WACKEN OPEN AIR YEAR 2000,
August 4th-5th!!!
Marius Müller (1958-1999):
Yesterday evening (March 14th), around 7:00pm, one of the best guitarists in Norway,
Marius Müller died in a car accident. The police believe he might have suffered a
sudden indisposition and lost control of his car before he crashed into a street light.
Besides his family, the guitar was his greatest love. He's been active for over 20 years,
and has been guest musician on many albums, and toured with many artists,
besides his own projects. His baby the last
years, was the band Marius Müller Funhouse. They used to play every Wednesday at
the club Smuget. Besides writing and playing his own stuff, no one could play
Jimi Hendrix songs better than him.
We'll never forget you, Marius. R.I.P.
ROCK BITCH LIVE:
Last week, me and Espen Hangård (Guitarist and Singer in one of the most
underrated Metal bands in Norway,
NoPlaceToHide)
was down in Copenhagen, Denmark on jobrelated stuff. (Yes, we do work for the
same company.) During our stay, we were determined to attend a Metal venue if possible.
We ended up in the legendary Pumpehuset
to check out the extremely SEX fixated girlband
ROCK BITCH.
To be honest, neither of us had any musical expectations, but their Live-shows has
attracted some serious attention around Europe. Pumpehuset was sold out it seemed,
and the crowd was gearing up for this most unusual Metal band. And then they came. I must
say they travel light regarding clothing. Lots of skin and nudity from the start.
Musically, they kind of surprised me. It was not that bad at all. They played their
standard Metal with energy and people really got the foot. But it was their visual show
that people really had come to see. And it is the most outraged show I've ever seen from
a Rock scene. The girls engaged themselves in all kinds of sexual activeties, unsencored
of course. The word Headbanging really got a new dimension this evening. A guy was
picked out in the crowd and hoisted up on the scene. The girls strapped a huge dildo to
his head, and there he went on banging two of the girls, you know where, in perfect timing
with the music. A lot of other stuff happened through the show. They ended it with a song
I believe to be called Fistfuck To The Wrist. And so they did! The singer strapped
on a rubber glove, and the female guitarist came forward to receive it. She counted the
fingers 1, 2, 3... until her entire fist was inside (you know what). This was
maybe the shocking part of the show. Else, I don't think the crowd was that shocked.
It was more like having fun in a very strange way. The only two persons who didn't
participate in the sexual activeties, were the male guitarist and the female bass-player.
On the other hand, she was really good. A firework to watch during the entire show, and
she molested us all with some out of this world slaphand techniques. To round up the event,
they put on a descent show musically, but I do not want to spend money on their album.
The performance visually, was something else. A fare description would be a Sexual
Orgy Performance. I don't know any other bands performing a show like theirs, and
in that respect, they're unique and well worth checking out. They managed to get the
crowd really going that night, so it would be fare to say the show was a hit. I know one
thing for sure, this band will never be allowed to play here in Norway!!!!!!
(16/03/98)
VANDEN PLAS/DREAM THEATER Live at
Rockefeller:
Yesterday night (March 1st), a soldout Rockefeller was the place to be for any
fans of Prog.Metal. On the bill were VANDEN PLAS (Germany) and DREAM THEATER (USA).
This night was the 10th day of their European tour, which will go on for another 3 weeks. VANDEN PLAS
got on stage 8:45pm and took the audience with storm. They delivered a set that made the people gasp for air.
Quite strange concider the fact that the band is not very well known here in Norway yet. Their last album
The God Thing totally blew me away when I heard it and their whole set was based around that album.
The peak for me was the tracks The Rainmaker and You Fly. I had the pleasure to speak with vocalist
Andy Kuntz a couple of hours before the concert. He told me that they have never played in Scandinavia
before and they were pretty anxious to learn howe they would be received. Well Andy, you need not to fear
anymore. Judging by the excited crowd 45 minutes later, and the merchandise sales, your gig went down very well.
The record stores should be busy ordering your new album The God Thing, no doubt.
10:00pm, DREAM THEATER entered the stage, and the people lifted the roof with
chears. It's the third time they visit Rockefeller, and this time I think people
was more anxious about how the band would do Live, than before. Due to the mixed feelings
about their new album Falling Into Infinity, there was this uncertain expectations
before their set started. Well, it was washed away seconds after they plunged into the
steaming set. Their set was luckily a good mix of old and new material. Many people
were afraid that there would be to much new stuff, but the band has composed an exciting
setlist. The fans was utterly amazed for 2 hours by this bands musical genius, delivered
with such genuine pleasure and feeling, that this gig simply couldn't fail!! When
Pull Me Under came, Rockefeller turned into one gigantic choir.
All and all, this gig may very well be the Concert Of The Year 1998, even if
the calendar did say March 1st. DREAM THEATER took Oslo by storm
once again. There's no doubt in my mind that they'll meet a completly sold out
Rockefeller next time they visit us. Or maybe the 10.000 capacity
Oslo Spectrum might be the proper venue next time? (02/03/97)
New feature at the frontpage:
As of today, Feb. 13th, a new feature has been included in the frontpage. I've tried
unsuccessfully to keep up with some of the supporting labels Release Schedules
right here in the News page. But it's to much work keeping up with them. It is better
to let the labels do the updates themselves. This is the reason for me adding a special
page with links that has direct access to the labels own Release Schedule pages.
I do hope you'll enjoy this new feature. I know I will, because I don't have keep track
of the releases myself anymore.
Click here and check it out for yourselves!!!! (13/02/98)
Support:
Maintaining a WEB-site like this, takes time and much work. These are two parameters
which are sometimes difficult to combine with all the other activities which is going on,
demanding your full attention. Therefor, it is a pleasure to know that we receive
supportiv help from time to time. There is one guy who has been active helping us for
months digging up great Metal-pages for us. His name is Gary Fowler.
Thanx to him, our linkpages should be interesting for any Metalhead, regardless of which
style of Metal he/she do prefer. Digging up new, great Metal-sites is timeconsuming, and
I for one, simply don't have the time to do as much surfing as I would have liked to do.
Gary have more or less become a partner to our WEB-site, and we are so greatful
and lucky for having his support. Keep on visiting our link-pages, because Gary
are constantly coming up with new great sites. THANX, GARY!!!! (13/11/97)
JUDAS PRIEST:
October 26th, I hooked up with Tim "Ripper" Owens, the new vocalist in
JUDAS PRIEST, in his hotel here Oslo. We made an interview focusing on
the new album Jugulator and how things are doing in the PRIEST camp at the
moment. Click
here and read the entire interview. (29/10/97)
STEVE HACKETT:
September 30th, Geir Fosby did an interview with guitarist Steve Hackett focusing on the new album GENESIS Revisited. Click
here and read the entire interview. (27/10/97)
LYNYRD SKYNYRD Live In Oslo:
It's Saturday night, October 4th at the Rockefeller, Oslo, NORWAY, and legendary
LYNYRD SKYNYRD's in town! I may be wrong, but
I think they're here for the first time. The band
certainly set the stardard for Southern Rock way
back in the seventies, but together with bands like
MOLLY HATCHET, ZZTOP and 38 SPECIAL,
they are the speerhead of the genre today. The concert's been
sold out for months, and people had travelled over 1.000 miles
to see the band. When we got inside the Rockefeller, a gigantic
Confederate Flag covered the whole rear wall behind the stage.
The crowd was psyched up to some serious Southern Comforting,
footstumping, kick ass Rock. 10:15pm Johnny Van Zandt led
his merry men out on the stage and it all took off with Ain't Much
Difference from their last album. The crowd exploded, and I found
myself worry about the roof!!! They followed up with Saturday Night
Special, What's Your Name and On The Hunt. People sang all through
the set, and every time Johnny spoke with us, an enormous YAHOOO!!!
rose from the crowd. The band must have felt more like they've entered a Home Coming
Party down the block, rather then playing a gig way up north in Norway.
I think the Yankees can praise their luck, good ol' Johnny wasn't
around and in charge back in the Civil War, because he led LYNYRD SKYNYRD to a complete victory
here in Oslo. The guys seemed to have a lot of fun up there on the stage, and by God, so did we!
They ended the set with Sweet Home Alabama and then said goodnight.
Hey, wait a minute, wasn't there something missing here? Of course, the band came back on
stage and dived right into Travelling Man, and then the mighty Free Bird
flew over the crowd, ending a perfect concert. Time, 00:15am.
The only complaint must be that Rockefeller is way to small for this band. They
should have been playing at the 10.000 capacity Oslo Spectrum.
Well the thing is, they were ment to play there, but the place was occupied by the world
famous illusionist David Copperfield and his breathtaking magic show.
Nevertheless, This night, the greatest magic was performed by his fellow
Americans, LYNYRD SKYNYRD!!! (06/10/97)
VOIVOD Live In Oslo:
September 28th, Canadian VOIVOD played in town at MARS, the newest
Live-scene in Oslo. It was my first visit there, and the place is absolutely great!! I'm
sure there will be a lot of top gigs in the future. Norwegian AURA NOIR had the
support-slot. These guys have drawn a lot of influences from good old VENOM. They
even look like them. They really kicked ass as well. Halfway through their set, the guitarist
started up a weird Solo, while drummer and bass-player changed places. When they were
ready, they set off in an even more powerful way. People banged their heads through their set
and AURA NOIR delivered an audience ready to go bunkers when VOIVOD
hit the stage. I think this is their first tour in Norway. People had travelled for miles to see
them, and they said this was a dream come through. They started up with
Rise followed by Insect and M.Body before they said hello to us.
The audience was really raving, and VOIVOD seemed to have great fun up on the
stage. More tracks like Tribal, Mercury, Phobos, Project X and Bacteria was delivered
in a ferocious way. Thirteen songs, with Nuclear War and Voivod as extras,
the band said goodnight to the people whom by now was swimming in sweat. No doubt, this
was one of the better gigs we've had in Oslo for a long time, and next time VOIVOD
play here, I'm sure they will fill the venue, 'cause it was far from packed this time. But the
words from us who were there will travel from one Metalhead to another, and by the time
VOIVOD returns, the gig will be Sold Out. (29/09/97)
SEASONS OF THE
WOLF:
US band SEASONS OF THE WOLFs debut album, Seasons Of The Wolf,
are now available for our readers and listeners in the Oslo area. You can buy it at the
premium Metal Record Store in Oslo, Sound Of Noise. The price is very nice, 80
Nkr. The CD has 7 tracks. The band are set to release their follow up, Lost In
Hell, in January 1998.
Official Homepage. (24/09/97)
MASSACRE
RECORDS:
MASSACRE RECORDS has grown to be one of the leading Metal labels in Europe
with many top Metal acts in their rooster. A growing number of labels is to be found on the
Internet. Massacre Records made their first appearance a couple of years
ago, hosted by bangos.com. To be honest, their site was poor stuff, and after a while,
they disappeared. So did infact their host, bangos.com. I have notised that their old
URL-adress at bangos.com is still listed in many Metal sites linkpages. To all of you
who are looking for Online Info from Massacre Records, you don't have to
search anymore. I have found their new WEB-site, and this time, they have put up a very nice
site indeed. Click on Massacre
Records and visit their site today! I have of course added their link to our own List Of
Supporting Labels linkpage. (26/08/97)
Reviews:
As of today, a Review Page has been added to the WEB-site. The intention is not to
review as many releases as possible, but we will review things we like ourselves, and maybe
focus on unsigned bands. Bands who want their CD / tape reviewed or presented in our
weekly radioshow, E-
mail me. Click on The Reviews Page
and take a look on the reviews we've done sofar. (27/06/97)
LIVER:
Partymonsters LIVER are hard at work with a new crazy CD. There will also be a
video made with it. Guitarist and vocalist Max Murdock has been active on the mail
lately, and I would like to share some requests from him to all you crazy people out there. First
of all, if there are anyone from Norway interested in buying their current CD Bring The
Lotion, e-
mail your interest to me. Max will send over whatever amount of CD's
required to me, and you can buy them through me. Secondly, regarding their new video they'll
make for the new CD, he really want some help from all of YOU!!!. Dig up your
videocameras or photo-cameras and make some really lewd, crazy scenes/pictures.

Death of a Rock arena?
May 1st is a sad day for the rockers of Oslo. On that day, the doors closes at the best Rock
Arena in town, Sentrum Scene. 60 people looses their jobs and Oslo looses an
internationally reputable club scene. In fact, two american music journalists selected
Sentrum Scene to be the best club-scene in the world some years ago. Nearly all the
international well known bands has played there when they visited Oslo. The place is bought
by the biggest real estate tycoon in town, Olav Thon, and at the moment, nobody
really knows what he's gonna do with it. Yesterday night (April 28th), there was a free concert
at Sentrum Scene, set up as a protest against closing the place down. A lot of local
bands played for free and the entrance was free of charge. Among the bands that participated,
was Back Street Girls, Abra Kadavra, Inhalers, Abnormal, Big Balls, Beat Tornados
and more. Bands like Type-O-Negative and Paradise Lost has expressed
their support for keeping the club alive, by signing a protest-note. It was the employees at the
club who staged the gig, and the place was packed with supporting rockers. One thing is
clear, the battle for keeping the club open as a first class Rock Arena is far from over, so
Olav Thon, be prepared for some hard times facing the rockers of Oslo!!!!

SHADOWS FALL:
The Massachusetts based SHADOWS FALL have just returned to the U.S. with one of METAL HAMMER magazine's
coveted Golden Gods Awards. METAL HAMMER is one of England’s premier metal/hard rock publications and
SHADOWS FALL proudly kicked off their first-ever awards ceremony with a pummeling four-song set. The highly touted
metalcore quintet were then presented with the prestigious award for Best Underground Act. The inaugural awards took
place at a packed Forum in London, in front of an audience of both fans and celebs alike, including Lemmy,
LED ZEPPELIN's John Paul Jones, MARILYN MANSON, AMEN, CRADLE OF FILTH, SOIL, THE MURDERDOLLS, THE DONNAS
and TAPROOT. This all came after SHADOWS FALL delivered a blistering performance on the main stage at this year’s
Kerrang! sponsored Download Festival on May 31st . This annual event of mammoth proportion took place in
Donnington Park, England where they played alongside such acclaimed acts as IRON MAIDEN, MARILYN MANSON,
DEFTONES, AUDIOSLAVE and MINISTRY.
Vocalist Brian Fair checked in to describe the whole riveting experience, "This weekend was the realization of
one of my oldest metal dreams... sharing a stage at Castle Donnington with the almighty Iron Maiden!! The enormity of what
was about to happen immediately set in, as we were about to play the largest show of our lives with our heroes in front of
70,000 people. All of our fears were alleviated when the doors opened at ten and thousands upon thousands of people began
storming to the front of the stage. We were greeted with an overwhelming welcome from the crowd and blasted our way through
a short and energetic 20-minute set. I knew it would be my only opportunity to do this, so during the silence after our
second song I did my best Bruce Dickinson and yelled, ‘Scream for me Donnington!!!’ with everything I had! It was without a
doubt my most metal moment. Now it is time to take the next few weeks to rest and prepare for the summer on Ozzfest."
As if this wasn’t enough, SHADOWS FALL continue to maximize their touring opportunities by performing Ozzfest
off-dates with CRADLE OF FILTH, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and SWORN ENEMY in support of their highly touted album
The Art of Balance. Expect them to remain on the road through the end of the year.

S.I.N.:
End of July 2002 guitarist Deddy Andler and British singer Jason Marks founded the band S.I.N. -
Somewhere Into Nowhere. The name should express the step into the unknown and the beginning of a new musical
adventure. The line-up was completed by bass player and guitarist Wolfgang Frank and drummer Alexander Hlousek
in February 2003. S.I.N. soon decided to go to the well known House-of-Audio studio in Germany and record their
self-titled debut album which consists of 10 songs. The style of S.I.N. can at best be described as powerful rock
music with "in the mind sneaking melodies" - ranging from emotional ballads to up-tempo rockers. But nevertheless,
the songs have their own spirit and character and sound well balanced. The album Somewhere Into Nowhere is scheduled
for September.

(Lo Que Falto) as Rick’s parents have spanish roots.
The release is scheduled for August 25th.

QUEENSRYCHE:
Put simply, Tribe is THE return to form that QUEENSRYCHE fans have been waiting for. But that's not
all. This album marks the first time in 6 years that the band's original lineup has written and recorded together as
a unit. Yes, you read that correctly. Chris DeGarmo, Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, and
Scott Rockenfield writing and recording as a band for the first time in six years.
QUEENSRYCHE has forged their own path. Period. They are impossible to define. Going from moments of unabashed
heaviness to quiet reflection, QUEENSRYCHE's musical palette has always run the emotional gamut. Tribe
is no different. DeGarmo's return has provided a musical rebirth for one of rock's most important and influential
bands.

SOILWORK:
Drummer Henry Ranta has left Sweden's SOILWORK in order to dedicate more time to his personal life.
"After playing in SOILWORK for five years, our dear friend and drummer Henry Ranta has decided that he can no longer
continue to play in SOILWORK," the band said in an official statement announcing Ranta's departure from the
group. "There are no hard feelings between Henry and us in any way, and we will still remain amazing friends, he will
always be a true Soilworker. We wish him all the best of luck with his decision and we're sure we'll cross paths again in
the future!"
Henry, who is also a member of THE DEFACED (featuring DARKANE guitarist Klas Ideberg),
has issued a statement of his own explaining his decision to leave the band.
"I guess this is supposed to be a statement of why and when I decided to leave SOILWORK, but since this is a well
thought out decision (not an easy one though) I will try and keep away from the sentimental 'bullshit' and just focus on
the hard facts," Ranta said.
"Combining my daytime job, rehearsing, recording and touring with SOILWORK has basically worn me out. This didn't really
make a difference the first couple of years in SOILWORK, but as time went on I started digging a black hole for myself.
For the past two years I haven't really found any joy playing, and with all the tours coming up this year I felt that it
was time for me to leave. Playing in SOILWORK has been my life 24/7 for five years now, and at one point last year, I
started to open my eyes to a lot of things that has been neglecting, just because I had been to concentrated on one thing
only. Basically I'm gonna start investing more time in things that are making me happy right now. I'll take a peek at the
other side, and I'm pretty sure that I'll enjoy what I'll find. But you're not gonna get rid of me yet though. It's not
like I'm gonna stop playing drums. You will still hear me fucking shit up in THE DEFACED and other projects.
A really big thanks to all SOILWORK fans for amazing support throughout years - Love ya all! Finally I would like to say a
big fucking 'hell yeah' to the band for five beautiful years of insanity."
SOILWORK, whose next gig is scheduled to take place this Sunday (June 8) at the Rock Hard Festival in
Gelsenkirchen, Germany, have yet to announce a replacement for Ranta. More information is expected soon.
