After hearing so many "meet the band" stories, we agreed to get there really early and try to stake out their tour bus. But they had been doing a MusiquePlus interview and we couldn't get to them. We tried everything we could think of but with no results. So we ended up standing outside from about 4 till 6:30 when the doors opened. We made a beeline for the stage and got a spot right at the front left near Ross. The bouncer standing there was actually really friendly and was really nice about everything.
The Flys were nothing to write home about. Oh, except they covered Ozzy's Crazy Train... sound familiar? They did a decent job but it paled in comparison to csoul's version.
Eve 6 played next. Most of the crowd was there for csoul but there were a few Eve 6 diehards in the crowd. They were pretty good, actually. Again, though, you could see the clear difference between a young band, so far with only one hit song, and veteran performers like CSoul.
When the first notes of Tremble were heard, the energy in the Spectrum was electric. The guys came out on stage and I couldn't even hear myself cheer, even though I was screaming as loud as I possibly could.
The set list was identical to Toronto, with the omission of Wasting Time, which is too bad. But every song was incredible. I would have liked to hear Forgiveness, and She Said, and Maybe, and especially Dandy Life, but I suppose you can't have it all. I screamed so much that I totally lost my voice but it was so worth it!
In the meantime, the guys noticed our little fanatic corner. Ross tossed several pics in our direction, and Jason passed him his e-bow in the middle of the show, and Ross actually played a few notes with it. But it was set to the wrong mode so it was playing an octave higher, so Ross kind of looked at it with a "what the hell" expression" and gave it back.
They were really great to the fans. Some guy from the crowd managed to get up onstage, and Ed was totally cool about it, he brought him up front and had him sing with him. At the end, Ed leaned out over the crowd to touch everyone's hand.
All I regret is not bringing my camera in with me, or bringing in a tape recorder. A bunch of people had cameras- they didn't even search me- and got some great shots. With the view I had, I would have had amazing pictures. Oh well, next time.
After the show, we waited near the side door for about an hour or so in the cold (I eventually went and got my car and turned on the heat) for the guys to come out. Finally, Ed and then Ross came out and we took some pictures and got some autographs.
Then the next day there was a signing session at a local music store, so we went and were second in line. I finally got all four CDs autographed by everyone, along with a poster, and I took a bunch of pics.
All in all, the concert was totally completely incredible. There's something special, it's indescribable really, special doesn't do it justice, about a CSoul concert. If you have the opportunity to go to one, don't miss it for anything!
