This show, the first ever for Ego Booster, took place as the main attraction of a small get together at the Darowski home. The band played for over an hour for friends and family for the first time. Many of these songs were being played for the first time in front of a crowd. Other than Ego Booster and the electric shock show (every time the band touched their microphones they were zapped), the get together featured Mrs. Darowski's famous potato salad and Eli's Myles Baer dropping Recyclable Friend's Mat Patalano into the pool. A good time for all.

This was Ego Booster's first public show ever and their first show in a club atmosphere. It was held at the Living Room, where Adam Darowski's other band Doofus played all of their shows. Craig Sowersby was in the crowd that night, and recorded the band's "Kitty In A Dress" demo the next day. The memories of this show still shine as some of the best ever.

This show was Ego Booster's first acoustic show. It was an acoustic show by default. The band carried all of their equipment up three flights of stairs in the UMass Dartmouth Resident Hall 3B and then were told that they could use no electric equipment. Much to the band's horror, the show went on. Adam played and acoustic guitar and sang his vocals microphoneless. Adam Cooper lightly played his drums and Chris cheated and played his bass through a fifteen watt guitar amp. This show featured Chris Fillippi's first songwriting pieces: "I Remember You" and "Just Like You." During a solo cover of Imperial Teen's "Butch," Adam Darowski broke a string, dropped his guitar, and picked up a spare guitar lying near by all in one motion. Them's were fun times.

This is just one of those Ego Booster shows that there seem to be no memories of. There is a video of this show floating around, but it seemed like it was one of those nights that were plagued by tuning problems and time constraints. We'll leave it at that.

This Living Room show featured a full set of crazy Ego Booster numbers with an extra track at the end. Adam Cooper sarcastically challenged Adam Darowski to write a song called "Whore." So, he did. The song was mostly about wanting to be John Lennon, but that's okay. The chrorus repeatedly screams "I'm A Whore." Longtime Ego Booster videographer John Gilbert convinced Mrs. Darowski that Adam was saying "I'm a Horse."

Can you say disaster? We really know how to clean out a room. Chris had the greatest of intentions when he booked this show, a cafeteria at a college... hundreds of people, right? Well, when we started there was a decent crowd, but they obviously didn't like us and left. The old people that set the show up were the only ones left. The said, "Don't you play anything quieter?" So, we fooled around with "Twist & Shout" (which later became a part of the set list) and "Wild Thing." Well, that wasn't fun, so we turned it into Weezer's "Sweater Song." We also debuted two new songs, "Waiting for You" and "Happy Again." The only redeeming part of the night is that Craig Sowersby came along to do sound.

This was the first time we (a) played in a hole in the ground (b) felt freightened for our lives as we were playing and (c) played our set next to molested plastic people. Tally another nightmare for this one. It was Humbuck Squash's CD release party (great CD, by the way) and we opened up. We just don't have the same crowd as Humbuck. On the plus side, this was Bi Janus' first show.

This was our first of two shows this day, the only time we ever played two gigs in one day. This was a noontime acoustic gig at Rick's Music World in Swansea, MA. We were playing night show at the American Legion Hall in Fall River, MA with Treated and Bi Janus. Both of those bands played at this acoustic show, and also Rehoboth's Recyclable Friend... the best band under five feet. Of course, nobody told Adam Darowski that this was an acoustic show, so he had no guitar. He borrowed Craig Sowersby's (of Bi Janus). It was an awkward gig, but they gave us free lighting rental for that night. Highlight of the day: Adam put a down payment down on his Les Paul Marauder that day.

This was the first show that we acutally rented the hall and brought all the equipment (along with Bi Janus, of course). This was the first Ego Booster show in which Mike Poisson did sound as well. Treated was fabulous, although they disappeared before any of the other bands played. Bi Janus rocked, of course, and then we went on. This was probably our longest set ever. At this show I realized quantity doesn't count, it's quality. We just played too long. Other than that there was a decent turnout.

This was another hole in the wall that Humbuck Squash brought us and Bi Janus to. Actually, it was a nice club, but it was 21+ just like the entire city of New Bedford. The only people there were the ones we brought and a couple drunks at the bar. Highlights of the night: one of the drunks managed to threaten the life of both Jay Pacheco of Humbuck and Adam Darowski before being dragged out of the club by his ear.

This was our second of a series of two shows at this hall. This time, it was just Ego Booster and Bi Janus. Craig opened up and played twenty minutes or so as his solo act called Eric Blair and then Bi Janus joined him and rocked out. Our friend Brian Durkin played some of his solo acoutic stuff (as Beaker) while we changed the equipment. Then Ego Booster came on. It was a highly successful show. This time we shortened the set and they asked for more. We played a couple goofy cover for an encore and then the show was over. It was our most successful show ever monetarily. We debuted the yellow Ego Booster shirts and sold quite a few. We walked away with quite the profit. Also, the cop we hired was nice (imagine that).

it's your fault

This was the infamous Blessed Event show. We played with Bi Janus (notice a trend here) and they were wonderful. We played a set that featured two new songs, "Birds" (a Darowski original that Chris was having a hard time learning) and "It's Your Fault" (a hard rock songs written by Chris. Tensions were brewing in Ego Booster with Chris and Blessed Event pretty much told him his song was the best of the night. This is probably when Chris began contemplating leaving the band to play his own material. The scene still holds a grudge against Blessed Event (and their new lineup called Stocklan) for some unprofessional comments made towards Bi Janus. And to set the record straight, Blessed Event sucked anyway.

This time we played at a hall in Westport with Humbuck Squash, Bi Janus, and others. Little did we know we were headlining a hardcore show. Humbuck always puts us in these weird situations. Anyway, a great bootleg is floating around from this show. It was also Chris Fillippi's last show, a very emotional event. We closed with "I'm Gonna Live With Her," the last song to be played with Chris. Adam broke five strings and ended the show with his guitar laying across his tipped-over amp feeding back profusely. We miss Chris dearly, of course, and wish him luck in all his future endeavors. He will forever by an integral part of Ego Booster and we'll remember him forever. Thanks, Chris.

After Chris left the band, Ego Booster took the summer off becasue Adam Cooper took a job down on Cape Cod and stayed for three months. During that time, Adam Darowski wrote a slew of new tunes and prepared for an Ego Booster comback. This show was the pairs first return as a two piece band. It didn't really sound as good as it did in rehearsal, but it was nice to be back on stage. The many new songs were well received by hardcore Ego Booster fans. Two notes: We met friends Missing Joe for the first time and we ended our streak of consecutive shows with Bi Janus at seven.

At this show we filled in for Bi Janus at the last minute because they weren't able to make it. It was a show with Eli and Humbuck Squash, and ironically it was in a hole in the wall. But it was a nice hole at Rhode Island College. It was at this show that someone in the crowd told Adam to take guitar lessons and learn how to play classic rock. Adam gave some sort of indie-lo-fi response such as "Why would I want to do that?" On a better note, we debuted "Plea from the Fouton."

This was a benefit show for FRESH (Fall River Ends Smoking Habits). Of course everybody was outside the whole time smoking. It was a gorgeous place with a disco ball and everthing. However the place was crawling with cops and Adam conveniently had his "Bad Cop No Donut" sticker across his briefcase. It was nice to be with Bi Janus again. Almost as nice as it was to play a real show with Humbuck Squash. Adam dressed up as Liam Gallagher for the first song, complete with a wig and glasses. Good times.

This show featured Gerry on bass. Of course, Gerry was just a lonely bass cab that Adam ran his guitar line into across the stage because the two piece sound can't fill up the Living Room. We played "Let's Get Married" and "Look at Me Now I'm Happy" for the first time and seriously began contemplating recording an album.

This was our first show after recording the "New Life" album. It was our CD release party held at a coffee house called CAV where we were the featured acoustic act. Adam Cooper came back from his job on the Cape for this one and it was the first time the two had played together since being in the studio (early April). The show was kinda loose to say the least, but it was a good time.

This was Ego Booster's first show to feature many of the newer songs, such as "Bigger than the Beatles," "Little Beamer," and "Pretty." The "Chopsticks" inspired instrumental "Barry Martin" provided excellent PUNKtuation for "Little Beamer." We also did a pair of covers. "Traffic Jam" by Teenage Fanclub (the band's biggest inspiration) and a Yo La Tengo instrumental original (that Teenage Fanclub also covered), "I Heard You Looking." The final song ended in a pensive feedback drenched climax, reminiscent of the last show with Chris Fillippi. Things will never be the same.
