He was born on September 29th, in 1967 in Haywards Heath, a town beteen London and Brighton. He describes it as "a horrific place with a vivid undecurrent of voilence."
His father is a taxidriver, and his mother was a unsuccessful artist before she died of cancer some years ago.

and Brett started studying a course in Town and country planning at the university in Manchester. After two months, he dropped out, but stayed in Manchester, earning a crust as a DJ. "It was this seedy little pub. Pissed-up blokes used to come up and ask for 'True' by Spandau Ballet so that they`d get a snog. I`d refuse, and I`d get bottles thrown at me." The following year, he decamped to London and managed to get a place at the Bartlett School, part of University College, studying Town and Country Planning. It was here he met Justine Firschmann.
Brett had his A-levels in Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Now, Brett is living together with his girlfriend Samantha (Sam) in Ladbrok Grove in Highgate, London. Brett wrote the b-side on Beautiful Ones single, "Sam", to his girlfriend when Suede was making Coming Up. Brett writes the most of all Suede-songs, and his favourite words are all who begins with the letter S-, like Sam, she, Sadie, sexual and savage.
They`ve got two cats, Fluffington and Sphinx. Some years ago, Brett was dating Justine Frischmann. Justine was at that time the guitarist of Suede. Justines father was a whealthy architect/builder, and he built Centre Point, the skyscraper which dominates central London.
It seems like Brett is really fond of black clothes, cause he wears black all the time. His favourite colour is purple though.
He wears shoesize 8.
His fave drink is Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine, and he loves Gazpacho Soup. Brett has been a vegetarian since 1984. He is allergic to mushrooms.
The movie Brett can watch over and over again is "Performance".
At gigs, Brett likes to swing the mirophone on stage, and romours says that Richard once was hit by the mic, and he had to go the hospital.
He likes to work out at the gym, as he also likes to be around girls. And by the way, he is nicknamed "The Sex God" by his friends.
Two of his favourite Suede-songs are "The wild ones" and "Savoir Faire". His fave song on Coming Up is "Picnic by the motorway". Brett did never learn to drive because he was afraid to end up as a taxidriver, like his dad.
Damon Albarn of Blur said once in an interview: "I hate drugs and know for a fact that Brett Anderson is doing heroin". Brett got away with it in the press, saying he has a phobia about needles. In an interview with Norwegian TV, late in March -99, Brett said: "Drugs are evil. I don`t do them anymore. Drugs are for loosers. I admit that I`ve done drugs, but now it`s all over."
Brett loves art and he likes to listen to Sheryl Crow and REM. He says he listens to music with a romantic point of view.

Brett says it wouldn`t be a meaning about his life if there weren`t Suede.
