Burning

i feel as though ive already been burnt at the stake before
that night, smothered under his weight
my soul burned a thousand times
the feeling of such complete confinement
knowing there is no way out

you cannot stop what your body must endure
but you mind can flee
in thoughts buried deep under layers
and layers of fear entwined with memories
and it singed my soul to be stuck inside this burning body
for hours
while my mind fought to escape itself

my body has never felt such fire as my soul has seen
