Erika's Profile

Name: Erika
Nicknames: America, Ricki and Rik
Age: 27
Birthdate: July 7, 1971
State: Kansas
Education: I have a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting and Film with a minor in Theater with a specialty in music production and I have my teaching certificate. I am currently a substitute teacher. I really like teaching, but I would rather be in music. Kansas isn't really showbiz friendly, if ya know what I mean.
Family: Do you really want to know? It's kind of complicated. I was adopted. In my biological father's family, I have one older brother (I don't know his name), one older sister (I don't know her name) and one younger sister (I don't know her name. In my adoptive family, I have one brother (Ryan). In my biological mother's family, I have one younger brother (Scott) and one younger sister (Lorien). All in all, I am the 3rd child out of 7. I also have a very close friend, Matt, who I consider an older brother. He calls me sissy....Aww...how sweet. ;o) I like the idea of being from a large family, I just wish that we all lived together. When God chooses to bless me with a husband, I want to have 8 kids. I know that was probably more information than you need a just that moment, but I just had to share. ;o)
Occupation: Substitute Teacher and Keyboard player and singer for The Jericho Project.
Hobbies: Music, music and more music!!! :o) Music is one of my passions. I can honestly say that I have been writing and playing music since I was 4. My younger brother Ryan and I used to "write" songs. Neither one of us could write, me about 6 at that point and Ryan was 3. We would get out our tape player and sing into it. We would also put on "shows" for the neighbor kids and our parents. Ryan would play the pots and pans, literally, and I would play a tennis racket. Ya know...drums and a guitar. Duhhh!!! ;-) Music continued for me. I have played the violin, piano, flute, piccolo, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, and now I am learning the guitar. It is very hard, let me tell you!!! I am trying to teach myself. I currently play in a band with my "brother," Matt. He lives in Chicago now, but until he moved we were out of town doing an average of 6 concerts a month. Our next date together, now that he has moved, is in January. We will be in Chicago doing some concerts. I am very excited about that. My real dream is to do singing professionally!!! :o) There is still hope and I am still young. I also like working on the computer. I have two websites. The Hanson Tour Bus and Cotton Candy. I also LOVE to knit. Please don't laugh it is very relaxing. :o) I love to read. I really like mystery books.
Favorites:

How did I start liking Hanson?: I started liking Hanson back in January of 1998. I was student teaching in a classroom where almost every girl was a Hanson fanatic. They begged me and begged me to listen to Hanson. Before I would listen to the song "MMMBop," which I figured out later I had heard before and liked, but I didn't know it was Hanson, I insisted on reading the album jacket. I was floored when I discovered that they wrote every song on there. I mentioned this to one of my students and she told me to keep reading. I read further and read that they played the instruments too. I decided at that point that I needed to buy the album. I bought it and have loved it ever since.
Favorite Hanson: I like all of them for very different reasons, but I am partial to Zac, only because he is so funny. I love his personality and the funny voices that he does. If I get the chance, someday, I will thank Mr. and Mrs. Hanson for encouraging Zac to be himself. I used to act exactly like him when I was little, but everytime I started doing weird voices, my mom would say, "Erika, you sound dumb when you talk like that. If you keep talking that way, no one is going to like you and you won't have any friends." Since I was shy anyway, I quit talking like that because I wanted to have friends. :o(
Hanson Concerts: Some of you have asked if I have ever been to a Hanson concert. I took my niece, who is also in this club, to the Tulsa concert on September 24th. It was fantastic!!! We were in the 13th row on Taylor's side and it was just amazing. The only thing that upset me about the whole experience, was all the screaming. I understand that people get excited, but the screaming was so loud that we couldn't hear the music. My 13 year old niece, even got upset by the screaming. In fact, when I heard the live album and saw the tour video, I was amazed at how good the arrangements of the songs were. I couldn't hear any of them at the concert that we went to. :o) I hope that this gives you guys some insight into me and I hope it wasn't too long. If you have any other questions, just e-mail the club.
