The Almost
Perfect Love
By: Alexandria
Baxter
He's the one
you hardly noticed but always noticed you
The one you
go on a date with just for something new
He holds your
hand at the movies and holds open doors
Your palms
are hot and sweaty and your stomach silently roars
The excitement
of a new relationship is found in both you and him
The two of
you feel comfortable together going out on a whim
Your friendship
develops to the point where he's your best friend
Security is
found in his arms when you hope his embrace will never end
The two of
you always try to impress each other with precious little things
When you know
you're going to be apart the two of you trade promise rings
You can have
hours of fun and laughs playing a game like darts
You vow to
give each other your one and only hearts
Phone calls
are made in order to just say good night
Then you talk
for hours because the goodbye has to be just right
The two of
you go swimming in a lake at 10 p.m.
Where you dance
to one of your favourite songs which you sing to him
You've made
so many future plans for your life together
Like biking
around Vancouver Island in what ever kind of weather
Your two worlds
now exist as a singular one
You miss him
so much when on a trip he is gone
You talk of
sleeping together in a great cloud in the sky
Alone and away
from the pressures of everyday life
You vow to
never leave his side and he vows the same
Your heart
skips a beat at the mere mention of his name
Your friends
are jealous of the incredible relationship that the two of you have
Everyone around
you knows that it's true love
Love is so
fine and true love is so rare
Nothing in
the world could possible compare
Once you find
the one that makes you truly happy
Hold on for
your life because the road may get bumpy
On your first
year anniversary you both get all dolled up
You stare into
each others eyes and you know that he's enough
Once again
you trade your rings and dance to that special song
If you both
could have your way you'd dance all night long
Your plane
leaves early so you make your goodbye sweet but fast
You said what
you wanted to say now wish you'd made it last
Five of ten
more minutes and my perfect love would still be mine
Five or ten
more minutes and that drunken ass wouldn't have crossed his
line.
JUDGE
ME BY THE FOOTPRINTS I LEAVE BEHIND
A story is told about a soldier who
was finally coming
home
after having fought in Vietnam.
He
called his parents from San Francisco.
"Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've got a favor to ask.
I have
a friend I'd like to bring with me."
"Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."
"There's something you should know the son continued,
"he
was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped
on
a land mine and lost an arm and a leg. He has
nowhere
else to go, and I want him to come live with us."
"I'm sorry to hear that, son. Maybe we can help him find
somewhere
to live."
"No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us."
"Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking.
Someone
with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us.
We
have our own lives to live, and we can't let something
like
this interfere with our lives. I think you should just
come
home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to
live
on his own,"
At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents
heard
nothing more from him.
A few days later, however, they received a call from the
San
Francisco police. Their son had died after falling from a
building,
they were told. The police believed it was suicide.
The
grief-stricken parents flew to San Francisco and were
taken
to the city morgue to identify the body of their
son.
They recognized him, but to their horror they also discovered
somethingthey
didn't know, their son had only one arm and one
leg.
The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it
easy
to love those who are good-looking or fun to havearound,
but
we don't like people who inconvenience us or make us feel
uncomfortable.
We would rather stay away from people who
aren't
as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are.
Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us thatway.
Someone
who loves us with an unconditional love that
welcomes
us into the forever family, regardless of how
messed
up we are.
Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say
a little
prayer that God will give you the strength you
need
to accept people as they are, and to help us allbe
more
understanding of those who are different fromus!!!
There's a miracle called -Friendship- that dwells in the heart.
You
don't know how it happens or when it gets started. But
you
know the special lift It always brings and you realize
that
Friendship Is God's most precious gift!
Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile
and
encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a
word
of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.
Show your friends how much you care....

WHAT I HAVE
LEARNED...
I've learned
that you cannot make someone love you. All you can
do is be
someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned
that no matter how much I care, some people just
don't care
back.
I've learned
that it takes years to build up trust, and only
seconds to
destroy it.
I've learned
that it's not what you have in your life, but who
you have
in your life that counts.
I've learned
that you can do something in an instant that will
give you
a heartache for life.
I've learned
that no matter how thin you slice it, there are
always two
sides.
I've learned
that you should always leave loved ones with loving
words. It
may be the last time you see them.
I've learned
that we are responsible for what we do, no matter
how we feel.
I've learned
that there are people who love you dearly, but just
don't know
how to show it.
I've learned
that true friendship continues to grow, even over
the longest
distance. Same goes for true love.
I've learned
that just because someone doesn't love you the way
you want
them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned
that maturity has more to do with what types of
experiences
you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with
how many
birthday's you've celebrated.
I've learned
that no matter how good a friend someone is, they're
going to
hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for
that.
I've learned
that no matter how bad your heart is broken the
world doesn't
stop for your grief.
I've learned
that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean
they don't
love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't
mean they
do.
I've learned
that we don't have to change friends if we
understand
that friends change.
I've learned
that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a
secret. It
could change your life forever.
I've learned
that there are many ways of falling and staying in love.
I've learned
that no matter how many friends you have, if you
are their
pillar, you will feel lonely and lost at the times you need them most.
I've learned
that the people you care most about in life are
taken from
you too soon.
I've learned
that although the word "love" can have many
different
meanings, it loses value when overly used.
I've learned
that love is not for me to keep, but to pass on to
the next
person I see.
I've learned
that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
I've learned
that every day you should reach out and touch
someone.People
love that human touch - holding hands, a warm hug, or just a
friendly
pat on the back.
I've learned
that I still have a lot to learn.

I know how
busy everyone's schedule is with their work and all..but I
hope you'll
take the time to read this little story I found..it will
give you something
to reflect about..
A while back
I was reading about an expert on subject of time
management.
One day this expert was speaking to a group of business
students and,
to drive home a point, used an illustration. I'm sure
those students
will never forget. After I share it with you, you'll never
forget it
either.
As this man
stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers
he said, "Okay,
time for a quiz." Then he pulled out a one-gallon,
wide-mouthed
mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he
produced about
a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one
at a time,
into the jar.
When the jar
was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside,
he asked,
"Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class said, "Yes." Then
he said, "Really?"
He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of
gravel. Then
he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces
of gravel
to work themselves down into the spaces between the big
rocks.
Then he smiled and asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?"
By this time
the class was onto him. "Probably not," one of them
answered.
"Good!" he replied. And he reached under the table and
brought out
a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in and it went into
all the spaces
left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he
asked the
question, "Is this jar full?" "No!" the class shouted. Once again
he said, "Good!"
Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it
in until the
jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked up at the class
and asked,
"What is the point of this illustration?"
One eager
beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter
how full your
schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit some
more things
into it!" "No," the speaker replied, "that's not the
point.
The truth this illustration teaches us is: If you don't put the big
rocks in first,
you'll never get them in at all." The title of this
letter is
the "Big Rocks" of Life.
What are the
big rocks in your life? A project that YOU want to
accomplish?
Time with your loved ones? Your faith, your education,
your finances?
A cause? Teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these
BIG ROCKS
in first or you'll never get them in at all.
So, tonight
or in the morning when you are reflecting on this short
story, ask
yourself this question: What are the "big rocks" in my life
or business?
Then, put those in your jar.
REMEMBER TO
NEVER PUT ASIDE THOSE WHO ARE MOST IMPORTANT IN YOUR LIFE
DESPITE YOUR
BUSY SCHEDULE!

Imagine there is
a bank which credits your account each morning with
$86,400, carries
over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no
cash balance, and
every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you
had failed
to use during the day. What would you do?
Draw out every
cent, of course!
Well, everyone
has such a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it
credits you with
86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost,
whatever of this
you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries
over no balance.
It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new
account for you.
Each night it burns the records of the day. If you
fail to use the
day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going
back. There is
no drawing against the "tomorrow". You must live in the
present on today's
deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost
in health, happiness
and success! The clock is running. Make the most of
today...
To realize the
value of ONE YEAR
Ask a student who
has failed his final exam.
To realize the
value of ONE MONTH
Ask a mother who
has given birth to a pre-mature baby.
To realize the
value of ONE WEEK
Ask an editor of
a weekly newspaper.
To realize the
value of ONE DAY
Ask a daily wage
laborer who has ten kids to feed.
To realize the
value of ONE HOUR
Ask the lovers
who are waiting to meet.
To realize the
value of ONE MINUTE
Ask a person who
has missed the train.
To realize the
value of ONE SECOND
Ask a person who
has survived an accident.
To realize the
value of ONE MILLI-SECOND
Ask the person
who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.
To find the value
of ONE LIFETIME
Ask someone who
missed their chance.
Treasure every
moment that you have!
And treasure it
more because you shared it with someone
special...special
enough to have your time... and remember time waits
for no one ...
We make a living
by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

Friendship is a
strange thing....we find ourselves telling each other
the deepest details
of our lives...things we don't even share with our
families who raised
us...But what is a friend? A confidant? A lover?
fellow email junkie?
A shoulder to cry on? An ear to listen? A heart
feel?...A friend
is all these things...and more. No matter where we
met,....I
call you friend. A word so small...yet so large in
feeling...a word
filled with emotion. It is true great things come
small packages..Once
the package of friendship has been opened, it
can never be closed...it
is a constant book always written...waiting to
read...and enjoyed.
We may have our disagreements...we may argue... we
may concern one
another... friendship is a unique bond that lasts
through it all....part
of me is put into my friends...some it is my
humor...some it
is my listening ear...some it is real life
experiences...some
it is my romanticism...but with all, it is
friendship. Friendships
forged are construct stronger than steel built
as a foundation....necessary
for life...and necessary for love..
Friends, you and me....
you brought another friend....
and then there were 3....
we started our group....
Our circle of friends....
and like that circle....
there is no beginning or end...

play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes
the music."
