…reliable sources have just learned that four members of The Shelly/Moore/Ranaldo/Gordon Rythym Revue have all grown full length beards, bought pocketknives, built a raft out of driftwood and oil drums, then set out on a search for a mythic island supposedly inhabited by shamanistic sock-monkeys and blind children who are obsessed with sex. They carried with them a cargo consisting of thousands of crates containing microfiche film on which is stored all of the drawings made on the North American continent by children under the age of ten during the twentieth century. They also brought with them acetate disk field recorders stolen from the library of congress (somebody named Alan Lomax had written his name all over them). With which they intend to make field recordings of the sounds of battle (physical, intellectual, spiritual, and subliminal) between the two warring factions on the island. Shelly has been quoted as to have said they brought with them "no food, no clothing, no means of navigation, no life preservers, no weapons, no currency, no books, no cassette tapes, no writing implements, no headphones, no…".
