My Dear Cousin

written by Jackie Lynn

I wonder where you are all the time.
...do your eyes see?
...do your hands touch?
...does your mind think, just like mine?
or do not only your surroundings change, but also,
do you feel any different than you did before this tragedy?

I can't hear your voice or see your face.
how do I know you're really in a "better" place?
Sometimes I think I can even hear your voice,
you're talking to me.
But then I realize that this can't be.
I even expect to see you standing there,
but I must think of "reality."

I have felt your presence numerous times.
I know you were there.
It was something inside my body that I felt,
and at first I felt scared.

But as I thought it through I knew,
You are still here with us,
in eternal life,
where you shall live forever.

I know one day I will see you again.
and you will be guiding me on my way.
through this unexplanatory world,
till then.

So even though the space between us
couldn't make us more apart,
I know my dearest Jeanine,
you'll live always and forever
in my heart.

This poem is dedicated to my cousin : Jeanine, I miss you and think of you constantly. But I know eventually I shall overcome this obstacle. Because I know that on God'ss chosen day, I shall see you in the world of eternal life.
