Song Info

The page where you can find out a little bit more about each song. We have put down everything from meanings to motives. You will have to scroll down a bit if you want to read stuff from the Frequency era.

ReWired

Lies

This song has a small history behind it. It is, by far, our oldest song on the CD. We made it our first song because it was the only one that could be blended really well with a noise track. Our band did not like this song at the beginning of its creation, but we kept it on the back-burner, changed a few things, and now we love to play it. The sound at the beginning of the song is a mix of many pedal's, electric "objects", pick-scratching, and messing with pick-up switches.
This song is about a person who is rejected by society and seen as an outcast, but this person knows it's them who are wrong and he/she just waiting for the lies to catch up to them.

Deny

We put Deny on both our albums for a few reasons. We feel, as a band, that this song is one of the most talented songs, overall, that we have written to date. This song is therefore one of our favourites and wouldn't be as good of an album if it didn't have Deny on it. If we were to choose a few select songs to play in front of everyone, this one would make the cut.
The meaning behind this song is simple. It's about a person who can't come to grips with the things that are happening to them. Everything is going wrong but that person doesn't want to accept it. They're just trying to escape reality through denial.

Take Me Away

This song is sort of a repeat from our last album, but if you listen to the two comparatively, you will see that except for the lyrics, this song is musically different. The reason we liked this song is simply because it breaks away from our traditional grind beat.
This song is about a person who just wants to be understood. Since they are not like all the rest, they feel left out. They are starting to get pissed off at all of the judgemental crap and just want to get away.

Egocentric

A great piece of music. This song is probably our most favourite as a band. It's not as all around hard as others but it has some absolutly wicked parts. We're sure this one will become a song liked by many.
Egocentric is about someone who thinks they're all that and try to be cool by hanging out with the right people but everyone can clearly see they're nothing but a fraud.

Waste

Waste is another song that has been in our "song basket" for a while. This song was written and played before we recorded our last album, Frequency, but we held it off, made song changes for the better, and now it's wicked. It has the best bridge to play live.
This song's about someone who sits at home, living in their own filth, and is basically just wasting everyone's time and space. The funny thing is, this person doesn't give a shit what happens.

Crave

Our newest song that we put on ReWired. Crave had only been around a little while before we recorded and was not planned to be on this album. Our session had gone very well and we still has lots of time to kill, so we took some (actually all) of that time we had left and put on Crave. We are surprised how well it came out and would not take back the idea for a second.
This song is about temptation. To elaborate, it's a person who continues to give in but never realises his/her mistakes until everything is done.

Retard

Nothing but a track showing how "retarded" a band can be while recording. It actually should be called the Take Me Away Out-Takes but it has no name and never will. Just to set you up with who is who, Jim and I (Daryl) are the one's who are constatly laughing, Jim is the one who lets out that huge yell, I (Daryl) am the one who swears a bit, talks the most, and keeps on fucking up, and our Drummer's (Dan's) only line is "C'mon guys, we're wasting minutes."

Frequency

Deny

We made Deny our lead off for many reasons. We feel, as a band, that this song has the most punch/push of anything we had written to date, and it was also our favourite. If we were to choose one song to play for everyone (at the time), we'd play this one.
The meaning behind this song is simple. It's about a person who can't come to grips with the things that are happening to them. Everything is going wrong but that person doesn't want to accept it. They're just trying to escape reality through denial.

Left Alone

This song (also known as the "Yeah" song) was the one that first earned the band some fame around Belleville. If anyone ever knew of Insult to Injury, they knew the "Yeah" song. This was the first piece we wrote that we were proud of. We put it on our CD because it was the one that people might buy it for.
This song has another easy theme you may have picked up if you heard it. It's about someone witnessing a friend or family member die. This person is so enraged that they will go to any length to ensure the killer pays. They are consumed by the need for revenge.

Fear on the Brain

Our drummer's favourite song. We had ruled this out for the CD but things changed. Our recording session was going so well that we came to an agreement. If we recorded it in one shot, then we'd keep it. So we set up, played it and it came out great. We therefore kept it and are glad it we recorded it. This is our "upbeat" song.
It's about a paranoid person's worst nightmare. They come to a city or town that they don't know and start hallucinating because they are so scared. Their perceptions are so distorted that they can't see any way to escape.

Wasted Time

Our first ever song written. The music was created before we were a band. Dan and I were in a guitar class at school and we made this song, with no words, as an assignment. Later that year, Dan and I teamed up as a duo and just started playing at his house. We then wrote the words to that song at our first "practice". Jim joined us after and then we became a band. At that time, we weren't called Insult to Injury, we were called "Held Back". Jim has helped us with all of our other songs since then.
This song was written about a relationship gone bad. It's about a guy who just broke up with his girlfriend. Actually, she broke up with him. He's so heart broken that he doesn't know what to do. He does get his revenge by sleeping with her best friend and ruining their friendship.

My Peace of Mind

We felt that this song came out the best on our CD. Jim, our main song writer, believes that this is was our best song, lyrically, to date. We enjoy playing this one live because it's so thick. The intro is very surprising and we like the looks on peoples faces when they hear that.
It's about a guy who's in a bad relationship with a girl and just wants to move on. In the end, he leaves her in a cloud of dust and takes off to start his life over again. (No, he does not go to the sun)

Hot Sister

Definitely our funniest song. We love it because of the push. You can feel it in you because our guitars are so low and Dan's drums are so thick. It took us fifteen minutes to create this one from opening chord to final word. It was originally a joke but we liked it so much that we started to play it all the time.
This song is about someone personal. It's about a sister of someone we know but we won't say for many reasons. Incase you don't know, it's about a guy who wants his girlfriend's sister.

Take Me Away

We chose to end our CD with this song for simple reasons. Not includong Deny, we feel that this song would have been our best at the time. We love the energy that it packs and it just makes us want to jump on anything or everything whenever we play it. We were slightly disappointed with how it came out on the CD, but we still love it.
This song is about a person who just wants to be understood. Since they are not like all the rest, they feel left out. They are starting to get pissed off at all of the judgemental crap and just want to get away.

A Trip to the Dentist

Not at all planned. It was a complete accident that occured when fixing my guitar. Without knowing, I left my guitar on an tried to change some things. When I ran a "certain thing" (not a 'Black and Decker' cordless drill) over the guitar, this cool feedback started and so we recorded it, and added screaming in the background as if we were visiting the dentist from hell.
No real meaning other than the idea of a routine dental check-up gone mad.
