George Harrison

George Harrison

George Harrison was born February 25, 1943 in Liverpool, England. His parents were Louise and Harold Harrison. Unlike the other three Beatles, George did not come from a broken home. In 1954, he went to the Liverpool Institute, which he despised. At one time in his early life, he was a trainee to an electrician, but decided to pursue a music career. At the Institute, he met Paul McCartney, who invited him into his band, the Quarry Men. He joined in 1959.

During Beatlemania, George met Pattie Boyd, whom he married on January 25, 1966. He also developed a friendship with fellow guitarest Eric Clapton at this time. In the middle to later years of the Beatles, George became interested in Indian music. He also used this interest to shine as a songwriter, emerging from the giant Lennon/McCartney shadow. In 1968, the Beatles, at George's urging traveled to India to study meditation.

After the Beatles broke up, he released a triple-album, All Things Must Pass. In 1971, he participated in The Concert For Bangledesh. In 1974, he started touring North America. After a few years, his wife began an affair with Eric Clapton and the two divorced ion June 9, 1977.

George then fell in love with Olivia Arias, and their son Dhani was born in August 1978. They married a year later. George released his comeback album, Cloud Nine, in 1987. Later in the decade, he became a part of the "Traveling Willburys". In the 90's George has continued to keep his low-profile, yet did re-unite with Paul and Ringo to record for the Anthologies.
