The Beatles, or The White Album, was released in 1968. Most of the songs to this double album were written by the Beatles while they were in India, studying under The Maharishi. Producer George Martin tried to talk the Beatles into only choosing about half of the recorded songs for the album, but the Beatles refused. The songs presented on this album show the individual styles that each Beatle had adopted during this time. Also, Ringo's first composition, Don't Pass Me By, is on this album. During the sessions to this album, Ringo quit the group temporarily, saying that it just wasn't fun anymore. In fact, Paul plays drums on Back In The USSR due to Ringo's absense. Of course Ringo eventually came back. Another note is that Charles Manson claimed that this album was describing an upcoming revolution. He supported these claims with the songs Piggies and Helter Skelter. I'm sure that we all know the rest of the story from there. The songs of note on this album are Back In The USSR (a salute to the Beach Boys), Ob-Li-Di Ob-Li-Da, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, the aforementioned Don't Pass Me By, and Birthday.
