Welcome.
If you're into web page authoring, my page is a good place to start obtaining
links to excellent info. The GIF Construction Set is a shareware program
that lets you create animated GIFS, banners, and wide palette GIFS. You
can download it for free and try it out. Not only is the program good,
the documentation and FAQ sheet is extremely funny. Paint Shop Pro is one
of the best shareware programs available. You can do batch file format
conversions, such as GIF to JPEG, or create and edit graphics files. Once
you have Paintshop Pro, go to the Filter Factory site to get Paintshop
Pro plugins that are awesome. You can download them for free and they as
good as the plugins for Photoshop. Check out Gallery A, in particular.
Several of them allow the making of various types of buttons. The GIF Wizard
is an online utility (that will shrink your GIF files for you and check
your links. Unfortunately, it is no longer free.
Bellsnwhistles has a wealth of information and doodads for your pages. And when you're ready to publish your site, Submit It! is an online FREE service that will allow you to submit to over a dozen search engines at once. GeoCities Home Page Resource Guide not only has all kinds of rich information for building your site, they will host your site for FREE. They have several utilities available for you as well, and can help you with banner creation, counters, etc. What's New Too is another place to submit your site. Once your site is up and submitted, RankThis allows you to check how your site is doing at 8 of the most popular search engines and gives you tips on how to rank higher. How Do They DO That In HTML is a great site for beginners to learn the ins and outs of HTML. The HTML reference site is excellent in describing the requirements of HTML tags and how to code them. David Siegel, author of Creating Killer Web Sites
(CKWS), can take credit for one of the best visual spacing tricks in the
book: the Single Pixel Gif Trick. I would strongly urge you to visit his
site.
These applications and utilities are PC-based
and for those with Windows or Windows 95. TUCOWS is the Ultimate Collection
of WinSock software. Desktoppublishing.com has a wealth of backgrounds,
icons, bullets, etc. Each of these places are a rich source of utilities,
editors, and other software and sometimes graphics.v. Winfiles.com was
previously known as Windows95.com. They've changed their name and URL to
encompass Windows98 andWindows NT.
