Standby For Pain: After
almost completely reinventing himself with Blood and Bullets, Dee did what
any good rocker would do, he reinvented himself again. Many Twisted
fans and fans of "Blood and Bullets" (including me) hated this album when
they first heard it. But subsequent listens have changed my mind.
I still prefer the first album, but Standby For Pain has a dark, crunchy
sound that I like a lot. It's one of those albums where you hear
something more every time you listen. This is what grunge would have
been had it been preformed by talented musicians. Highlights include
"Protect and Serve" and "Iron Road."
Blood and Bullets Live Video:
a chance for those of us who didn't get to see Widowmaker
to see what we were missing and those who did see them to relive the experience.
Blood and Bullets Live is an experience. From the first song to the
last, Dee and company show why they're one of the best live bands in the
world. Dee, as always, exhibits amazing vocal talent and ability to fire
an audience. Al Pitrelli shows off a bit with a guitar solo that
is nothing short of amazing. Joe Franco provides a pounding backbeat
and Marc Russell shows himself to be an underrated bassist. Together,
they blast through most of the "Blood and Bullets" album, one song from
"Standby For Pain" and even a couple of Twisted tunes for old times sake.
The crowd is kind of small because of an ice storm (a fact Dee makes a
running joke of throughout the show), but it's definitely an SMF audience.
If you haven't seen this vid, go order it through Dee's web
site while he's still signing them.
