VH1 Interview with Savage Garden

The Wallflowers dropped out of number 1, leaving it open to the Australian band Savage
Garden. The song, "I Want You" which, you know, was partially inspired by the soft drink?!

DARREN : Well, on our first trip to America, we didn't have umm... we don't have Cherry Coke
or Dr.Pepper. Actually, Dr.Pepper just came and I was fasinated by it. I just think it was the
most amazing taste! It was really, really cool and it summed up what I thought of America and
uh... I guess it was just a way of slipping in a compliment to someone. I say "You're sweet like
cherry cola." There's a lot of things in that, but that's where it came from...
