Hey everyone. Yesterday at Chicago, it was the best thing they has ever
happened to me!! Heres my story..
First off, for any of you that were there and in floor by noel... i was the
one up front with Blonde Streaks, and i had a navy shirt on. I bowed a lot to
Noel =o)
Nick picked me up at around 3:15, and we were off! We got there at 3:35.
Just in time to here Noel sound check!! Guigs, Alan, Bonehead, and Noel
started off by doing a catchy Blues song, then did a song I have never heard
before. Maybe it was a new track! Then about 45 minutes later they started
up again. They played Don't Look Back in Anger, I am the Walrus about 2 or 3
times... it was amazing with noel's vocals, and then Be here now. Then that
was it for the wait that was exciting!
As I waited outside with my friend Nick (OasisBHN@aol.com), he went to go find
Danielle (MagicPie0@aol.com) that is suppose to meet us there. He comes back
with her, and we talked & took a few pictures for like 2 and a half hours. It
was FREEZING outside!!! Couldnt feel my toes!! At around 6, half hour
before doors open, my mom and brother show up. She gives me 20 dollars
spending cash, and a camara for the show! My mom and bro were there cos I won
tickets off of Q101, chicago radio. It turns out that Emily
(Oasis14MLE@aol.com) and her friend was standing right to our left! She heard
my mom call me "Jean Paul" and she knew it had to be me, so she asked! We
talked for a few, then disaster striked. When they opened the doors, some guy
came out and said "these doors wont be opened, go to the next line over". WE
WERE ALL MAD AND PISSED... it was like a rage trying to get to the other
door!! Me and everyone who met were like 6th in line too, so we were sooo
pissed. So we ran and i found a shortcut to get through faster. Turns out
even by changing lines last minute, it wasnt bad!! We had to get a green
bracelet before we entered, so we got one, then went in.
When I got down to the floor I had a great standing spot! I wasnt exactly as
close as it got, but it was great! Then this blonde (she was kinda stupid to
do this), left her spot, and i took it! I was right at the fence, front
row.. on the side noel stands! I knew it cos it said noel on the mic in front
of me! I met this awesome brittish guy named Matt who was standing next to
me, and it turns out he lives in Burnage, and was a HUGE oasis fan like me.
He had a lil arrogant additude at first, then he became real nice with me. He
decided to have a lil Oasis Quiz, so we did for the time being. Then crowds
came in.. and we had the best spot in the house!!! Then everything started
and cornershop got on.
When they were playing, they weren't enthusiastic at all!!! Didnt say
anything between songs, nothing. Tjinder just did his thing, and the rest of
the band as well. The songs were kinda shit, but then Brimful of Asha was on.
Only good song from them i think, cos i actually understood some of the words,
and i was able to sing along finally! The rest were horrible, but then on the
last song, Noel came out and played bass for it! Everyone was going crazy,
but I couldnt see Noel cos he was behind some Amps. I saw his shadow though,
that was cool =o)~ That song was TOO long... after hearing it for 1 5 minutes
or something... it was over!! I was getting soo pissed cos i couldnt stand it
anymore. Then they left, said nothing, and then the roadies came out to get
the set ready for oasis!
The guy who i was with knew what Jason, Noel's roadie, looked like... so he
screamed for him. He looked smiled, and did his thing again. Nothing special
till I hear some guy take over the speakers and said "In the past Oasis has
been driven off stage by some lazer lights flashing in their faces, shoe
throwing, and other objects thrown at them. You all know they will not have
it, they will just get off and leave. We saw some lazers before, so dont
flash them again. If you want a great show stick to these guide lines, thank
you and enjoy the show" and then they played the stupid waiting music again.
Then " Boys are back in town" was played real loud and the lights dimmed! The
crowd went wild.
After that, the flashing light action started, and Be Here Now's beginning
keyboard intro started. All of a sudden a HUGE mass of people just smooshed
me against the fence! Everyone got too excited, it was great!! Then i saw
Alan, Guigsy, Noel, Bonehead, then Liam walk out!! Everyone was going crazy,
it was louder than ever!!! Liam gets to the mic and he said something like
"Wow thank you chicago!" and started wooing on the crowd... he got us to the
top of our lungs!!!!! I had my camara ready and got some great shots of em.
Then they went into the songs!
I allways dreamed about being up front in an oasis concert, just jumping
along, moving singing, throwing my hands up doing "Number1", bowing, anything
you can imagine... i did it all yesterday!!
After Be here now came Stand by me. It was sooooo great!!!!! Best thing
happened during it. While i had my camara up getting ready to take a picture
of Liam looking at me, Liam noticed I wanted him to look... so he stopped, and
posed! I took the shot, and then he saluted me so I would know it was for
me!! It was great. Also Noel noticed a photographer during the song, so he
started smiling at the camara to be funny. Everyone started laughing =)
After that came Supersonic....the intro was GREAT!!!!!! Noel did a whole new
beginning!! After that was Roll With It, then came D'You Know What i Mean?
Me and Matt started bowing to Noel numerous times, and I started chanting
"Noel yer god" afterwards. He went up to the mic, and said "Well thank you,
if you say so!" I was soooo excited!!! After that was Cigarettes and
Alcohol, then Liam and the crew left Noel alone to do his Acoustic set.
Noel started off with Don't Go Away. It was so beautiful with his voice, then
came Talk Tonight! I was excited to hear that one live. Then was Slide Away.
In the intro Noel used the same exact sounds of it as it is on Definitely
Maybe. At the end he didnt just use the "Don't know, dont care, all i know is
you can take me there" ending... before that he used the other one on
Definitely Maybe, its from the 4:15 mark - 4:40.... its the background with
Noel singing... and then he did the whoooooo whooo whoo part then Don't Know,
Don't Care one. It was absolutely tops. Before the next song... Noel was soo
nice, and had a security gaurd hand his pic to a girl. That was sweet. After
hearing slide away, i thought there couldnt be anything as good... then came
To Be Someone, written by Paul Weller... from the Jam. Now that song added up
allright!! Noel's voice was GREAT with it!!! I Loved it sooo much!!! Funny
thing is... he stopped himself before the lyric "Fuck" came around. Got
people laughing again! You guys have to hear it, if you haven't yet. Then
came the Electric Part again.
Don't Look Back in Anger was next and that was great. I took a awesome shot of
him singing "So sally can wait.." Then was Wonderwall with Liam's appearance
again! Abs olutely tops. There was this very nice black guy behind be who
shed tears during the song, and said to me "This song is what got me to where
i am right now. I love them soo much, and this right now means so much. YOU
BETTER REPRESENT!" He screamed that to where I think Noel heard, and he
giggled and smiled! That meant soo much to me! I bet too much to that guy
too! It was great Then was Live Forever, then It's Getting Better Man. Best
moments was during that song. Noel looked at me a lot of times, so I got my
camara ready and took some shots! I started doing my Number 1, and then i
grabbed my shirt where it said Oasis... and started waving it around so Noel
knew i was a huge fan... he smiled and shook his head giving me mental talk
like "You know it!". At the ending of it... Liam walked over and stood and
kneeled down on an amp f*ckin 2 feet away from me... directly in front of
me!!!!!!!! I took my last picture at that moment!!! He was looking straight
at me 2 feet away... how good does it get? Liam ended up at Noel's mic
stand, and Noel moved over to the middle and said "Oh hiya" hehe, they r soo
funny and hard to predict!!! Liam introduced the next song, Champagne
Supernova, in Noel's mic... then switched back for the song. At the end long
guitar solo, noel did a GREAT fast beat solo...it got the whole crowd
jumping... i moved around the most in that song!! Then after that they
left!!! I was all sad they left but i was jumping up and down while they were
leaving, I elbowed this girl to my right, in the nose on mistake, and one of
the biggest jerk security gaurds goes up to me and says "next time i see your
hands up im taking you over"... meaning he'll grab me and take me to the pit
where i have to leave!!! So i kept my right arm down at least.. the left was
still up!
The crowd was sooo loud and gave Oasis the best applause for a while, they
decided to come back to do an encore which was Acquiesce!! That was sooo
great!!!! Liam gets on and was like "We're back. I wasn't here for the last
one, but I am now, so fuck it..." I think this was for his miss last year in
August! The song was GREAT... then best thing ever happened. At the end
during Noel's part, Liam left stage and went down to the pit (area between
fence... where i was smooshed against, and the stage), and he was shaking
hands and everything!!!!!!!! It was the most exciting moment ever! When he
got over by me, he grabbed his shoulder, then he shook my hand!!!! Me, Matt,
and that black guy was going CRAZY!!!!! It was the best thing that ever
happened to me!!!! Ever in my life. Wow. Then the show was over, they
left... and the crowd was going crazier than ever.
As it toned down, and everyone was leaving, me, Danielle, Nick, Emily, and her
friend met up again somewhere on the right side of the floor towards the back.
Turns out that one of the nicest security gaurds gave Emily one of Noel's
pic!! I touched it... it was great! Then we said goodbye to Emily and her
friend, and me Nick and Danielle met back up with danielle's mom, and her 2
friends, who were in section 201 on top. When we were out there, there was a
lot of vendors selling Oasis Merchandise. I saw this Tan XL shirt, with an
orange, blue and white logo on the top left, and i loved it so I had to get
it. Since I only had 20 dollars, I borrowed 2 dollars from danielle. That
was sweet of her. Now I have 2 shirts... i wish i had more though!! Danielle
had to go, so I hugged her, and said our goodbyes, and me and nick were off
to find my mom and brother. After rounding the place, we get to the other
side, and found my mom and brother. I bragged about where I stood, what
happened throughout the thing with me, and that I touched liam.. it was great.
Then we were off.
When we were outside we talked to Brian "The Whipping Boy" from Q101, and he
gave us TONS of Q101 keychains.. he was really nice. Then we met this other
guy named Steve I think it was, and we talked for a bit, and headed off to go
find Liam and Noel's bus!! We saw it down in this long steep hill going
around 50 feet down to where noel and liam ran into it.. no1 was able to get
to them. Smart idea by the Rosemont people!! Then the day was over, and we
headed off to the car.
ALL IN ALL THAT WAS THE BEST DAY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, AND I WILL NEVER FORGET IT
AGAIN!!
I'm glad I was able to share all this with you all, and I hope you didnt fall
asleep... this is quite long and took over 2 hours to write... hehe... i had
to get it all down!!
