May 25, 1997; Marcus Ampitheater; Milwaukee, WI

This was how I got to like Puzzle Gut! OK, there was a local radio station concert (New Rock Fest). I was bored waiting for the Bloodhound Gang to take the stage later that night. So I spent most of my time at the second, much smaller, much cooler stage. We saw Sevendust who were pretty cool and some other bands. Then my friends wanted to leave to see local rockers the Gufs, but I wanted to see Puzzle Gut, having never heard them before. What I saw was amazing. I can't remember what they opened with, but it really caught my attention. Then I got caught into the mosh that developed (I hate moshing. It's so stupid, isn't it?) Anyways, I got up right in front of Lance. That's when I saw Lance hit a switch near his feet I didn't recognize (being a great guitar player and all). Lance hit the switch and started singing "The Cow". And I was like, "wow". This band talked my language. I have a theory very similar to that of the cow you can see at my web page (http://www.nconnect.net/~cedarone/ideas/meat/meat.html). After that I was totally amazed by their performance. Pat was all wide-eyed, staring at the crowd, and I liked that Joe, the drummer, sang on a lot of tracks. Finally, after an excellent rendition of Kiss the Mirror, I bought the CD hastily and found out Puzzle Gut would be there in a half hour to sign stuff. I rejoiced and stayed waiting with my friends. They weren't happy with me. But anyways, I met the band, and they especially liked me because I bought the CD. Pat's actual quote: "Whoa, this guy bought the fucking CD!" I got to hug Pat, Lance chatted with me, and Joe gave me a few nicknames. They were really friendly, and I got my album cover signed personally by all of them. I can't wait to see them again.

I went to the ROAR tour. Before I got there, I had no idea that Puzzle Gut was going to be there. I didn't even know that they ever existed. It wasn't intill after the second opening act that Puzzle Gut came out onto stage. I was blown away when they played there act. I'm pretty sure that the set list for the show was "I Know It Well", "You Know Me", "The Cow" , and "Kiss The Mirror". Then after there act, I noticed that they came down to sign autographes. I told my friend about this and we went down there to get some. I got an autographed picture of them and an autographed sticker of them. Then I told Lance Bulen (vocals & guitars) that they rawked. And he said "thanks". Then when my friend and I went to sit down, the whole band was sitting right across from us. And I was like, "Wow. Puzzle Gut is sitting right next to us". But then they left and I didn't see them again. This was my Puzzle Gut Experience. I hope to meet them again soon.

Before I seen them in concert at the ROAR festival, I heard them on the radio when thier song I Know It Well was origannly called Your Sisters Ass, but then they changed it cause the radios were complaining or something, i'm not for sure on that so i don't know if it's a fact. I went to the Roar Festival cause i got 3 free tickets from going to go see No Doubt with my G/F, so i went with two of my friends, when i got there i seen the line up and was surprised to see puzzlegut was on it, kinda mad to cause i could have brought my cd for them to sign, but none the less quite happy. so i sat around and listen to some other great bands on the second stage until they came on to play. The Security had put up some cow bars to keep us from the stage, but as soon as they started with the first Riffs and sounds, lance Shouted out "Take The Mother F***ing Place Over", needless to say the cowbars didn't last long. after the show and moshing a bit, they handed out the pics and stickers and signed autographs, so i stuck around a little later and had them sign my puzzlegut shirt i bought before they came on stage and the pic and they gave me a puzzlegut poseter and Joe gave me a drumstick. I cant wait to see them again!

I went to the R.O.A.R. Tour to see Sponge. I has heard from a friend that there was another great band playing, called Puzzle Gut. I had never heard of them, but was willing to find out for myself. They were about the third band, playing to a less then enthustiastic crowd. From the first song, the moshing started. From what I remember, they played my personal favorite, The Cow, I Know It Well, Orange, and Hangin' On. In between Lance made cracks about the less than beautiful environment we were all in, and also about an Iggy Pop fan dressed like the man himself. After the show, me and my two friends were walking around and we spotted Lance. We took a picture with him, and told him about how much we enjoyed the show, and how much others did, as well. It was an awesome show, only made better by meeting Lance himself. And I'd like to thank Andy for telling me about them first off.

June 14, 1997; The Stone Pony; Asbury Park, NJ

Let's see here my brother and his new fiancee drove all the way to New Jersey just so our side of the family could meet her + spend time with her, + such. So, I drove all the way to Asbury park on june 14th /the day of their party to see SPONGE. (I haven't seen my brother in about 2 years but, some things just have to take priority.) I could write (I have actually) several pages on my lovely little SPONGE experience, but you know Puzzle Gut was very nice too. I can't remember any song titles or tunes except that song, "I knew it well/ Your sister's Ass" it just grabs your attention and makes you ponder the subtle intricacies of nature and life, or some thing. They made fun of some creepy looking guy with a painted face for the whole show, (he threw a rubber rat at them at some point + he painted the rats face too) then they just made fun of him in a different way. The singer guy had a really cool bony hand tatooed on his real hand, which made me wonder if it's economical to buy crack in the tiny bags, or if it would be better to go to a wholesaler, anyway he gave me some printed up thing advertizing their cd, it had a picture of the band and stuff (it's still on the floor of my car), if there was a point to all of this, I'm sorry that I missed it they were really cool though the end haveA veryLovelyDay + be careful these compUterS will consume Your eyeball fLuid, and give YouA funKy disease

June 20, 1997; Orange County Fairgrounds; Middletown, NY

We walked into the Orange County Fairgrounds June 20 in Middletown New York. My friends and I went to the big stage immediately. It was about 2:00. Everyone just sat or stood staring at the stage waiting for the stage. We asked a near buy security guard when the concert began. He told us it had allready started and pointed us toward a smaller stage. There was Puzzlegut, performing a concert on the otherside of the fair. Not a sole was watching them. We stood and watched them out of pitty to see that they ruled. Lance ran over to us and gave us a hug after thier first song for listening to them. Then we started calling people to listen to this band cause it ruled. Well, they should have moved on to the big stage cause we got all the people to listen to Puzzle Guts Concert. It was pretty cool.

Sept. 3rd, 1997; Newport Music Hall; Columbus, OH

Okay now where can I begin? I missed th e first verse of Hangin' On because of parking problems. As soon as I got in I sprinted to the stage. Since Puzzle Gut was opening for Helmet there was only like 15 people at the stage. I was only guy singing the lyics and Lance pointed at me. After that they kicked into 9th Ward. Then the guy next to me kept yelling "Play the motherfucking cow song!" They did the very next song featuring an extended solo where Lance kept yelling, " I'm a crazy motherfucker!" , or something like that. Then that guy put his arm around me and yelled woohoo! I think he was drunk. The rest of the set list included Orange, Metamorphasis, and Kiss the Miror. The only bad part was that it was only a 30 minute set. It just plain kicked ass! I hung out behind the place to try and get an autograph. No Luck. It still Kicked ass!

September 6, 1997; Westfair Ampitheater; Omaha, NE

I seen them at Edgefest 97 in Omaha Nebrasaka on September 6, 1997 at the Westfair Ampitheater.. I hadn't heard of them before then, but I wanted to see their show. They played alot of hard music and everyone in the pit seemed to enjoy it. The best part was they asked some girl to come up on the stage and asked her if she had any special talents, so she took her shirt off and paraded around the stage while all the guys were yelling and screaming at her. They were O.K. and I was glad they were there.
