Joe Moments
Here is lucky Lep fan Cathy's Joe Moment!:
I gathered all my friends (I'd been telling
them for years this was coming, so they all gladly complied :)
and
we set out planning and everything... we created a 6ft long by 2ft
wide banner that said (i'm so proud of this,
hopefully no one will think it distasteful or take offense, it
was all in good fun humour) LEPPAR COLONY
in huge def leppard-like font and the yellow and red colors! keep
in mind we really were a colony, there
were 11 of us! we held it up for a brief moments at various times
during the show and joe actually said
(into the mic so *everyone* could hear!), "Ay! I like your
banner!" in his oh so cute accent!! I just about
dropped DEAD then but there was MORE TO COME!!
The show was...wow everything I hoped, i LOVED
it!! but AFTER the show... I had obtained a backstage
pass I was determined to meet the band and especially JOE and my
friends watched as I GOT BACKSTAGE!!
My heart was fluttering so fast I couldn't even believe I was
really doing it!! Then Malvin came out and said,
"none of you will be disappointed if Joe or Sav doesn't come
out, right?" But I was hopeful!!
The moment came and JOE CAME IN!! He's very
tall!! But he went to some specific peole and was talking
to them for a while...i got the impression he didn't want to
really be there, but I was hopeful. I saw Joe sort
of working his way back to the door and then I guess everyone
else noticed he was free again and they
jumped up and asked for autographs and pix and stuff...I was so
nervous!! I worked up the courage to go
up to him with my banner and I asked him to sign it,he said
"sure!" now what's funny about this is that there
were a bunch of tables and chairs around but since we were
standing, Joe had no where to sign so he took
the banner from my hands, laid it across my upper chest and
signed it ON me!! So I'm absolutely DYING
inside at this moment and trying so hard not to sound like a
babbling idiot and I just wanted to *talk*, not
about anything specific, just like regular people though - and
all I could manage was,
"you guys were really great tonight!" D'OH! He said
thanks.
So I went back to where I was sitting with my
banner and I realized that I was missing my opportunity, and
would my friends really believe that I had acheived my goal if I
had no photographic evidence?! I decided
the answer was "no" and I really wantd to ask him for a
pic, but I thought my time had passed and I had to
just let it go... so joe is getting closer and closer to the door
and i'm sitting there going, "i can't let this happen
because THAT man IS Joe Elliott!! So I worked up the courage and
went back up to him, and amidst all the
signing and other picture taking and stuffe, I finally worked up
the courage to say, "hey joe, do you have time
for one more picture? sorry i'm so demanding!" he said,
"sure!" and turned to pose for my camera which
i'd given to someone else back stage.... so he put his arm around
me and she took the picture...and the flash
*didn't go off* ACK!! and i think she knew that I was so sad by
that, cuz there was no way i was gonna
ask him for more of his time and she said, "oh no! the flash
didn't go off!" so i was trying to be all cool like
it was no big deal..."oh that's ok..." and joe turned
to me and said, "well it's bright enough in here anyway,
right?!" (if you could hear it, it would be something like,
'well, eet's broight eenouf -n'ere anyway, roight?",
i love his accent!) and i said, "yeah it's fine - thanks joe"
and he said 'no problem' and then he left the room!
and i was (ok please forgive me for this...;) EUPHORIC!!
