On Your Own Blur, who are currently on their world tour - this month they'll be over in America and Japan - release their new single On You Own on June 16. The recent May Bank Holiday was a bit of a thrill for the band when they received a very exclusive invitation to play live in DJ John Peel's back garden at Peel Acres. They had such a great time, they've decided to put their favourite tracks from the day out as b-sides for this single. Fans should note that a live version of the deleted single Pop Scene will be included on CD1 and vinyl - this very rare and much in demand track hs never featured on any Blur album.

The full track listing of live tracks will be:

CD1 - On Your Own (studio version), Pop Scene, Song 2, On Your Own CD2 - On Your Own (studio version), Chinese Bombs, Moving On, MOR 7" (side a) - On Your Own (studio version); (side b) - Pop Scene, Song 2

French Blur fans who purchase initial copies of the Blur LP will receive an additional 3 track CD featuring the tracks Dancehall, All Your Life and a Spell (For Money). Damon has recorded a Gary Numan track with Matt Sharp of The Rentals/Weezer. The song, entitled We Have A Technical is intended for a Numan tribute album. No release details are available at present. The release date for Damon's first movie Face has yet to be confirmed but Damon has expressed interest in supplying some music for the soundtrack.

blur. Dave Rowntree explains: “Compared to the last record, which was made in the glare of the spotlight, this record was very relaxed. By comparison this record was a breeze to do. Everybody was a lot more focused and enjoyed making it a lot more. If anyone buys it hoping to get another jingly jangly English stomp along they'll be disappointed. I think our fans expect more from us than that. More people would be disappointed if we carried on making “Parklife” as nauseum.”

By keeping a low profile throughout 1996, and after an inspirational trip to Iceland, Blur used the opportunity to re-evaluate personal and artistic values.

Damon told NME: “I just had to really sort myself out, but it's dificult when no-one can tell you what's wrong with you. This record has a lot of stuff in it. All these feelings are in it. Graham changed dramatically too. He's stopped drinking completely. It's great 'cos both of us felt we were drifting apart from each other as we were both under a lot of stress, but now we're back to where we were. We're back to being proper.”
