I know this page isn't very exciting yet, I guess we'll have to post a picutre of last year's SPURT girls for you or something. In the meantime... what to say about our plans for Burning Man '98?

First of all, we will NOT be on our usual frequency of 102.5 FM! In an effort of happily live together on the FM band next to Assualt radio 102.3 FM, we moved up the dial a bit. Our gear is more adjustable than theirs, so we moved in exchange for subjecting them to a SPURT Radio Simul-Cast during Burning Man. We had fun doing it with Frequency Publica last year, so I'm sure it'll be pretty painless...(insert your best evil laugh)

So, you may be asking yourself... just how many radio stations does Black Rock City (the name of the Burning Man collective) have anyway? Well, here's the list as I understand it at the moment...

FM stations:
89.5 - KBHR
90.5 - Wonderful WINO / KIGS Irrational Geographic Society
91.5 - Frequency Publica
(92.5 - A station out of Reno that sometimes comes in)
94.1 - Salt the Eunuch, Radio Poetry Beacon
95.3 - Radio Loose WhirrlyGig
97.5 - DIOX
99.1 - KMO (I'm pretty sure these guys are going to have to move since RFBM isn't inclined to let another station be this close)
99.5 - RFBM, Radio Free Burning Man
101.3 - Burning Maus Radio
102.3 - Assualt Radio
103.1 - SPURT radio
107.7 - KFRK, Distrubia

The list continues to grow! I don't know how many folks are going to just show up and hop on the air, so we're looking at a lot of radio entertainment. We'll be the guys with the red backpack. We will endeavor, like last year, to make a spectacle of ourselves so that you won't have any trouble noticing us. We'll be camped in the Alternative Energy Zone with all the solar and wind powered stuff. (South 20th & Atlantic). Look for our SOLAR GARDEN somewhere at that end of camp as well!!
