Closer and closer you came
Smothering me.
I could feel you
Pushing me from all directions.
Everywhere I turned you were there,
Pushing, smothering
Until I broke.
You broke me and I shattered.
The pieces of me fell all around your feet.
Tiny fragile reminders of what you did to me
But you walked away when I needed you most
Stepping on me as you went.
And I was alone
With no one to pick up the pieces of your careless destruction.
My hands grope for each other.
Clenched with rage, they need something to hold on to.
I squeeze them harder, trying to reach out and hurt you.
I feel as though I could crush you with my anger.
But I can't
Because you already crushed me.
And there's nothing left of me to fight back with
