Chocolates by Nyssa

Sifting through memories
Like a child looking
Through a bin of sweets
For the prize chocolate.
I find it
Let it melt on my tongue,
Filling my mouth with
A bitter-sweet river.
There are no happy endings.
The sweet is swallowed.
Life ends, and merges into
Sweet, final sleep.
You look into my eyes,
Hands grasping my shoulders.
"Don't talk like that."
Pull me close, tightly.
There is not much time.
Life will rip you from me again.
But stay now, with me.
There's only us, only this.
Forget time, forget life.
Know only me now.
