I wish I could include pictures, but I don't know when I'll next have access to a scanner. If/when I do, I'll be sure to include at least a few pictues into my story. Until then, just imagine 'em. :)
Being the Beatle nut I've been for 5 years, we had to see some of the Beatle sights while in England. I'm so obsessed that while we were there, I even bought a bag of Jelly Babies. :)
In London we went on a Beatles Walk, which was a lot of fun (even though it was the only day it rained.... grrr... *g*). We saw the street that the Beatles ran down during the beginning of A Hard Day's Night, and the train station also included in the beginning of the movie. Things in the train station had changed since over 30 years ago(which was to be expected!), but you could imagine them there in the movie. :) We had a bit of time to take pictures, and take pictures everyone did. :)
We saw lots more sights, like the church where Ringo married Barbara and Paul married Linda, the place Paul lived in with the Ashers, the place that Ringo lived in and at other times had such people like Jimi Hendrix or John and Yoko living there, we saw the resturant from the scene in Help!, and we saw Apple... I may or may not be leaving some things out, that's what I have written down. :)
It was really weird to see the places that they lived in, because in my mind the places looked different. Actually seeing them was really neat, and it was easy to imagine being back in the days when they roamed London. :)
We also went to Abbey Road (by then it was POURING!) and saw Abbey Road studios and the famous crossing. It was neat, although I was pretty miffed that people wrote things about Oasis and other bands on the wall... it should be purely Beatles. :) (Not that I have anything against any of those bands.) We learned that the wall is painted over every 3 months.. I didn't sign it that time 'cos I didn't have a pen, and everything was all wet anyway. We ended up going back on a later day where we all signed a little something, and picked up a few pebbles as a cheap souvenir which was a pal's idea (there weren't rocks, so I made do, lol).
We took a day trip to Liverpool, where I fell in love. It's just something about the city that I adored... I hope to be back someday. :)
For Beatley things, we took a Magical Mystery Tour, which was a lot of fun even though it was interrupted for a little bit when the bus got a flat tire. It was very, very cool to see all the 'old' sites... the houses where the lads grew up, where they went to school, the house where Brian lived... Penny Lane was really neat, seeing the stretch, and things like the shelter in the middle of the roundabout. :) We didn't get to see Strawberry Fields, though, because work was being done on the road we needed to travel on to get there. Seeing LIPA was especially cool, knowing all the work Paul put into it. We ended at Mathew Street, home of the Cavern Club. :)
Also while in Liverpool we went to The Beatles Story, which was a nice place to learn more about the Beatles if you weren't a die-hard fan. It was creative and fun to walk through. :)
So there you have it. A bit o' babbling about the Beatle sites I saw while on holiday. :)
