Yes, this is yet another analysis on Bo Rhap which'll be pretty contro and a far-fetched. No, we haven't seen THIS before. Actually, you haven't seen an analysis quite like this before of FM's masterpiece. Read on and look at the skies and see...
Ok, just before I start analysing, i just like to point out I just found out something painfully noticable that I haven't noticed (duh) before. Well, do you know that this costume Freddie wore in the Bohemian Rhapsody video is Mercury, the God? Well, if you are confused with what I just said, let me ellaborate, or whatever. Mercury the God, is the messenger of the gods. Being the messanger of the gods, he supposedly had winged ankles, like Freddie MERCURY has on his costume, shown here:
I just thought I'd like to point
that out to any dense ppl like me out there :-)
There are many stories about Bohemian Rhapsody out there, but I'm going to say what it defintely ISN'T about. When you play around with words it can mean ANYTHING YOU WANT THEM TO BE!!! So read on (after about 500 introductions) and find out what i mean..
"Is this the real
life
Is this just fantasy
Caught in a landslide
No escape from
reality"
Ok, this guy has a real problem. Trying to escape from them, he knows he can't.
"Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need
no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy
go,
A little high, little low,
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't
really matter to me,
To me"
He feels he doesn't need any sympathy. You know why? He made this problem all himself. Now he doesn't really care what happens to him. Do you get the feeling what this song is about? *hint hint*
"Mama, just killed
a man,
Put a gun against
his head,
Pulled my trigger,
now he's dead,"
If you are a really sickening person, like me, you know what a GUN is. Ok, this song is about Freddie having AIDS. Of course, it's painstakingly obvious that he didn't have it in 1975, AIDS wasn't even recongnised back then. Just see what puns there are in this song. He put his GUN against another persons head and now HE has died. sick and sad but true.
"Mama, life had
just begun,
But now I've gone
and thrown it all away
Mama ooo,
Didn't mean to
make you cry
If I'm not back
again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry
on, as if nothing really matters"
This is exactly how Freddie wanted us to react. Like nothing really matters. Like Freddie once said: "I don't care if i'm dead tomorrow. I've lived a full life." Just like the song says. The person he feels sorry for most, is his mother. In songs like 'Liar' and other early ones, he feels like he is constantly trying to impress his mother. I've read in biographies and stuff that Freddie felt his parents were ashamed of him or something. He also said (in the song) he has thrown his life away because of this disease. Ppl with the infection sometimes feel that their life is kinda over when they have found out. Remember, Freddie kept on living, and lived every day to the fullest. ;-(
"Too late, my time
has come,
Sends shivers
down my spine
Body's aching
all the time,"
Another symptomes (??) of HIV.
"Goodbye everybody-I've
got to go
Gotta leave you
all behind and face the truth
Mama ooo- (any
way the wind blows)
I don't want to
die,
I sometimes wish
I'd never been born at all"
He feels he has to face his destiny, like he did in his final hours when he told all his fans. He did evantually face the truth. Remember, he had to leave us all behind because he had to go. In this song he lives his life in regret of what he is, what he was and what he will become.
"I see a little
silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche
will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and
lightning-very very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo,
Galileo Galileo
Galileo figaro-Magnifico"
I think this is what his perseption of his afterlife would be. I think Freddie didn't think he was faithful to his Zoroagorianistic (??) faith. Think of it, maybe. In his rock star culture he was continously hiding his background, never talking of his childhood, etc. And took quite a keen eye in the Christian or Catholic whatever faith. Also, what about his sexuality? The circumstances that he died? I don't think Freddie thought of himself as a good son. I don't know why, I think that was his temperament.
"But I'm just a
poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor
boy from a poor family
Spare him his
life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy
go-, will you let me go
Bismillah! No-,
we will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! We
will not let you go-let him go
Bismillah! We
will not let you go-let me go
Will not let you
go-let me go
Will not let you
go let me go
No, no, no, no,
no, no, no
Mama mia, mama
mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has
a devil put aside for me, for me, for me"
Yes, ok, he is in hell. There are constant conversations concerning the salvation of Freddie's soul. Now he feels sorry for himself, unlike he did at the beginning of it.
"So you think you
can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you
can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby-Can't
do this to me baby
Just gotta get
out-just gotta get right outta here"
I told you this was going to be controverisal. Well, I think, this is the voice of one of Freddie's lovers. They had contracted AIDS and now he has gone, they are just being left to die.
"Nothing really
matters,
Anyone can see,
Nothing really
matters-,nothing really matters to me,
Any way the wind blows...."
Read it just like he says. Nothing really matters to him. Nothing is really worth it anymore. 'Live life the way you were before I was around' attitude is taken by this.
So what do you think? Do you think i'm some nut? Well, you're not wrong. Agree? Disagree? Write to me @ elle.gray@mailcity.com and we'll talk about it! THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!! :-)
