Lyric Analysis

Aren't you proud of me? This is my only non abtrusive part of my page! Isn't that wonderful? I thought I might include this STUNNING picture of Freddie here. I think it's gorgeous, don't you?

Anyway, I have made a breakthru, I finally found out what White and Black Queen mean! Now please realise that this isn't some nutty analysis which thinks that Freddie was possesed when he wrote this, but I am so sure this is what it means because everything works with it. . . anyway read it and i'll think you'll be quite. . . something, satisfied, i think that's the word. :-) Elle x

Black Queen White Queen

This is a story about a man who mourns for his dead love, White Queen. In a fit of devastation he hallucinates she comes back to him.

So sad her eyes smiling dark eyes
So sad her eyes as it began

Think of this, how could her eyes be smiling and still be sad? How could the night be breathless and the air could sway? This is the hallucination part. It's a kind of contridiction.

On such a breathless night as this
Upon my brow the lightest kiss
I walked alone

See, this condriction comes again. Who kissed him on the brow? White Queen of course! This man still thinks she is still here, but because he is so devestated he's just making it up.

And all around the air did sway
My lady soon will stir this way
In sorrow known

He awaits White Queen's spirits arrival.

The white queen walks
And the night grows pale
Stars of lovingness in her hair

The White Queen has arrived. 'And the night grows pale' means that it is getting closer to dawn. He has been waiting for her all night.

Heeding unheard pleading one word
So sad my eyes she cannot see

But still, deep down he knows she can't hear him, or see his tearsoaked eyes.

How did thee fare what have thee seen
The mother of the willow green
I call her name

He wants to know how she is doing. He continues to call her name.

And 'neath her window have I stayed
I loved the footsteps that she made
And when she came

He worships White Queen. I suspect that this love was not known to White Queen. He loved her from afar, which I think is about being right underneath her nose. Actually underneath her window. He was so close but never close enough.

White queen how my heart did ache
And dry my lips no word would make
So still I wait

Now, these are powerful lines. He tells of his aching heart. His lips are dry because WQ wasn't there to kiss them. He is speechless, why wouldn't WQ appear to such a sincere wish? He continues to wait.

My goddess hear my darkest fear
I speak too late
It's for evermore that I wait

My goddess is obviously WQ. He speaks too late of his unchrished love, that's why I think that she might hadn'd known about this man's love for her. He would have to wait 'for evermore' to encounter their love again. You know what he does?

Dear friend goodbye
No tears in my eyes
So sad it ends as it began

Yes, bubblies, he commits suicide. This line says goodbye to his friends. He doesn't want life anymore. I don't think he is saying goodbye to White Queen, because look at the words. He didn't resolve his undying love for her did he? This story continues in March of the Black Queen.

Well, yes this lovely story continues in "March of the Black Queen".

Do you mean it do you mean it do you mean it
Why don't you mean it why do I follow you
And where do you go?

This man has killed himself and yes chickies, he's beginning to regret it. The line, "why do I follow you and where do you go" means he hasn't found White Queen. Where is she??

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah
You've never seen nothing like it
No never in your life
Like going up to heaven
And then coming back alive
Let me tell you all about it
Oooh give me a little time to choose

He introduces you to the second half of the story. The line "like going up to heaven *hell* and coming back alive" is wrong. Well, not wrong but I am so sure he is in Hell it's not funny. You see, Queen (super rock band) didn't show any repence to ppl who commited suicide; either do religous ppl really. They think you are an infidel and you are taking 'God's precious gift of life' away (i wouldn't really know cuz i'm a jew/atheist/lovely queenie religion). Serious, Queen really hate it. Look at Don't Try Suicide.

So what I think happened to this man was he went to Hell, never to meet White Queen. All this because he commited suicide. I don't think this man even realised he was in Hell at all, I think he just couldn't find his love.

Water babies singing in a lily pool delight
Blue powder monkeys praying in the dead of night

This is what he expects, heavem

Here comes the Black Queen poking in the pile
Fi fo the Black Queen marching single file
Take this take that bring them down to size
March to the Black Queen

Then here comes the BQ. How bad would that be? Doesn't she sound like such a bitch? Personally, I think she is the devil. Look at it, there is Christ and there is Anti Christ. Anti Christ must be the complete opposite of Christ so she is a woman. You see? The line "Bring them down to size" means really 'show them who has the authrority'. That's how I feel sometimes at school. Those screwed up teachers just want you to be their puppets . .

Put them in the cellar with the naughty boys
Little nigger sugar then a rub-a-dub-a-baby oil
Black on black on every finger nail and toe
We've only begun - begun

BQ has seen the new inhabitant and ordered for him to "put them . . " I don't think FM was really raciest to say 'little nigger sugar. . .' because I kind of thought God would also think of black people as infidels, but I can't be sure of that. I don't want to be contro here. . .

Make this make that keep making all that noise
Ooh march to the Black Queen
Now I've got a belly full
You can be my sugar baby
You can be my honey chile

BQ is generally saying in the first line to keep all the hellish happenings carry on. She is quite satisfied. She has invited this man to be her sugar baby. She obviously favours him before he goes to the dungeons

A voice from behind me reminds me
Spread out your wings you are an angel
Remember to deliver with the speed of light
A little bit of love and joy

Guess who's here! White Queen has visited him! How wonderful! She is telling him he has not forfilled his life and that she shouldn't have been the only one who should have shared his love.

Everything you do bears a will
And a why and a wherefore
A little bit of love and joy
In each and every soul lies a man
And very soon he'll deceive and discover
But even to the end of his life
He'll bring a little love

WQ continues with wise words. Read this carefully :-)

Ah ah ah ah ah
I reign with my left hand I rule with my right
I'm lord of all darkness I'm queen of the night
I've got the power now to do
The march of the Black Queen
My life is in your hands I'll fo and I'll fie
I'll be what you make me I'll do what you like
I'll be a bad boy I'll be your bad boy
I'll do the march of the Black Queen
Ah ah ah ah ah

The White Queen leaves and the Black Queen continues with her egotistical blather. I don't know why, but this man is pscyed by her. He has joined her realm. "I'll do the march of the black queen".

Walking true to style she's vulgar abuse and vile
The Black Queen tattoos all her pies
She boils and she bakes
And she never dots her I's
La la la la la la la la la la la la
La la la la la

Oooh i love this part in the song. That is because I never dot my i's. I know it's very silly, but i don't. Anyway, i don't think that's anything to be proud of :-). He's just saying what's happening + stuff.

Forget your sing a-longs and your lullabies
Surrender to the city of the fireflies
Dance to the devil in beat with the band

Yes, I am sure he is in hell. She is making one last proclaimtion about her realm.

To hell with all of you hand in hand
But now it's time to be gone
La la la la forever forever
Ah ah ah ah ah

Then, suddenly, she lets the man go back to earth. I have no idea why. He is discharged from eternity in Hell from the BQ and is sent back. I suspect because he worshipped her in an earlier part in the song, but wouldn't BQ like his company then? If he was really genuine in his prayers (which i doubt) wouldn't he be worthy in staying in Hell?

I am sure he comes back to earth because remember at the beginning of the song? "like going up to heaven + then coming back alive"? Yep, it all fits together.

So what's the moral in all this?: DON'T TRY SUICIDE! (cuz bq might'd be so nice next time)
