background and news - stuff you already know:

    anyway for anyone that has lived under a tiny rock for the past two years, the smurfs are a punk rock band that have tore up the streets of seoul, korea for...uh, two years.  sort of.  yeah...the smurfs were born in a taxi cab on the way to the bowling alley in the base in seoul when timmy (now known as sweety smurf) told bill (aka smelly smurf - fuck, for explanations on these crazy smurfs names look below this stupid story) and i that we should start a band.  it sounded like a dumb idea at first, but little did he know he would produce the brilliant mega-rock group of our time!!  anyway we captured kent and forced him to play bass guitar.  smelly played drums and i was left with the unfortunate job of playing guitar and singing most of the vocals, at least at first.  later i started just yelling them out and then lip-syncing.  so when we weren't feeling like doing homework like all the other high school losers we had band practice and destroyed our hearing.  and we wrote a lot of songs.  those songs transformed into our first demo, smurfin usa.  then we had to split up cos our parents forced us to go to college...ugh!  but we teamed up again during the next winter and summer break and got a bunch of new songs together.  those songs became our second demo, attack of the smurflings.  now we are taking a break from the smurfs, but the action has not stopped my friends!!!  sassy, smelly, and i are all writing songs like crazy, and i just burned both demos onto a single 36-song cd!  so the smurfs are very much alive...kind of.  we can only have practice when we're hanging out together, but when we do, we get a lot done.  so that's the history and the background for the smurfs.
    what do we sound like?  we are: dorky, fast, catchy punk rock.  are we really the greatest band in the galaxy???  of course we are you dork.  anyway cruise around the page to find out more about us and to buy or listen to any of our shit.
    what's new with the smurfs?  okay sassy, smelly and i are all writing songs and we are planning on meeting up somewhere in the washington dc area to record them, along with the best songs from both demos into a new, marketable CD!!  yea!  that means new recordings and everything.  we may also put out a seven inch depending on how fast we get done with the cd, how much money we have, if we ever get the cd done at all, etc.  hopefully we can the attention of a record label out there (hello recess?) that'll make it a lot easier for us, but we already have plans to doing alone.
    where can i hear the smurfs?  well there are many places where you can listen to us.  i have, or will have up, lots and lots of real audio files locked somewhere in this homepage, and you can listen to us here, or you can buy the demos or the cd i have for sale.  we are also in this compilation of Your Mom's records called "Punk rock for assholes." the funny thing is, we don't even have a copy of it cos those guys are greedy.  but we have heard from people that have it, and they like the song we put there - "My Mommie is a commie".  we are also supposed to be in this other comp with bands like the nimrods & ruth's hat on Kop Out records, but i don't know too much about it.  i suggest you go over to sassy's homepage and find out more about it.  you can go there via the links page.  okay i think that's it for now.  if i have more to say, don't worry, i'll say it alright.
