AZERIAN MOON was formed in 1992 under the silly name MASSAKRERTE SJELER (Massacrated Souls). The band was formed just for the fun of it. The line-up included members of the HIGH VOLTAGE team and some friends of ours. We have sofar only done original material, no covers!!!!. In 1993 we partisipated in the Oslo finals of a rockband contest and reached the 6th place. WOW!!!! Back then we had 9 members in the band. We've also partisipated in '94 ,'95 and '96, but we didn't do as well as the first time due to massive technical problems on stage. But it didn't take away our desire to go on! However, the line-up has been changed many times.
In 1996, we decided to change the name to AZERIAN MOON. Obviously, we wanted to eliminate the silly name of M.S., and to have a name that wouldn't put us in any obvious musical box. We decided to name the band AZERIAN MOON. It's a nice name, and it gives us the musical freedom we desire.
Our music is inspired by bands like BLACK SABBATH, IN FLAMES, SENTENCED, THE GATHERING, DREAM THEATER, etc. The songs often includes both very heavy riffs and melodic atmosphere. We're still concider the band to be a social and fun place to be, so we're really in it for the fun. Our biggest problem at the moment, is that we don't have a vocalist, but we're working on it!!!
