SOURCE: CASS(?)==>CD, SBD
COMMENTS: Great-sounding soundboard recording.  Some hiss remains from the probable cassette transfer, but this is minimal.  Volume flutuates some during the first two songs before evening out.  Rare inclusion of "Space" and WHAT A MINUTE - a CT show WITHOUT "Surrender."  Everything I ever believed in...down the tubes....

SOURCE: HiFi VHS==>MD==>CD, SBD, From original soundboard FM broadcast
COMMENTS: Pristine recording from beginning to end.  All other live recordings - quality-wise - must now step aside.  This one's essential.

Live at Pine Knob
DATE: July 23, 1999
VENUE/LOCATION: Pine Knob, Clarkston, MI
TRACKS: I Want You To Want Me - Come On Come On - Hot Love - Anytime - Ain't That A Shame - I Know What I Want - Wrong All Along - If You Want My Love - Big Eyes - Voices - Need Your Love - Southern Girls - Surrender
SOURCE: MD==>CD, AUD, Sound Professional binaural stereo mics with battery box and bass roll-off filter
COMMENTS: Excellent audience recording. This show is a very enjoyable listen - it makes you feel like you're there all over again (or for the first time).  The only drawback is the whistler standing near the recorder, but they tried to keep it to a minimum.  Also, this recording is missing the encore.
Tricks & Ribs
DATE: July 2, 1999
VENUE/LOCATION: Cascade Plaza, Akron Rib & Music Festival, Akron, OH

COMMENTS: Cool setlist, but the bass is definitely lacking on this recording.

Elo Whiskey 1977
DATE: June 1977
VENUE/LOCATION:  The Whisky-A-Go-Go, Los Angeles, CA
TRACKS: Bun E introduces Rodney Bingenheimer - Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace - Elo Kiddies - High Roller (original lyrics) - Southern Girls - Cry Cry - Big Eyes - Can't Hold On - Oh Boy - You're All Talk - He's A Whore - Ballad Of TV Violence - Down On The Bay (w/ Roy Wood) - Goodnight Now - From Ohio 1977 - Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace - Big Eyes - Southern Girls
SOURCE: SBD

COMMENTS: Decent quality, very cool show.  This is from the historic shows Cheap Trick did for three nights at the Whisky during the recording sessions for "In Color."  They are considering releasing a "Live At The Whisky" CD in the future, but this is doubtful because only one multi-track recording remains for one of the four sets they recorded over two of those nights.

SOURCE: CASS==>CD, AUD
COMMENTS: Though not up to par with the high-end Cheap Trick boots, this is the best-sounding Doctor-era recording I've been able to find.

SOURCE: MD==>CD, AUD, Sound Professional binaural stereo mics with battery box and bass roll-off filter
COMMENTS: 2-CDs.  Awesome audience recording. Besides being a great album show set, this is probably - along with the other 2 nights - the best audience recording I've ever encountered.

Live at the First Avenue - In Color show

COMMENTS: 2-CDs.  Awesome audience recording. Besides being a great album show set, this is probably - along with the other 2 nights - the best audience recording I've ever encountered.  Two songs - Oh Caroline and Need Your Love - have major cuts when the recorder was accidentally turned off.

SOURCE: MD==>CD, AUD, Sound Professional binaural stereo mics with battery box and bass roll-off filter
COMMENTS: 2-CDs.  Great quality audience recording. Some killer songs including a great version of "Cry, Cry" and, as Rick says, only about the 4th or 5th performance ever of "Mandocello." Robin sounds just like he did in 1977.

San Francisco, CA 9/20/97

SOURCE: CASS/M(?)==>CD, SBD
COMMENTS: Awesome 2-disc set. This is an excellent digital master from the original FM broadcast. I felt the name was appropriate since this is the ONLY known live recording of "Way of the World." Sorry, this set is a must have - one of the legendary CT performances from their early prime.

Rockpalast '79

COMMENTS: Surprisingly good recording created in 1997 when this show was re-aired in Europe. Only drawback is this version is only separated into three tracks (no gaps) with Track 2 starting with "Need Your Love" and Track 3 beginning with "I Want You To Want Me."

VENUE/LOCATION: Koseinenkin Hall - Osaka, Japan
TRACKS: DISC 1: Hello There - Come On Come On - Elo Kiddies - Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace - Big Eyes - Look Out - Downed - Can't Hold On - Oh Caroline - DISC 2: Surrender - Auf Wiedersehen - Need Your Love - High Roller - Southern Girls - I Want You To Want Me - California Man - Goodnight Now - Clock Strikes Ten
SOURCE: CASS(?)==>CD, AUD
COMMENTS: 2-CD set. Nice quality audience recording from the same month as the famous Budokan show.  You'll recognize some of these tracks as the exact ones that appeared on the original Budokan album (we now know that several of those original Budokan album tracks were actually from this show).

Live at the Metro - Budokan show
DATE: April 30, 1998
VENUE/LOCATION: The Metro, Chicago, IL
TRACKS: Hello There - Elo Kiddies - Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace - Big Eyes - Look Out - Downed - Can't Hold On - Oh Caroline - Surrender - Auf Wiedersehen - Need Your Love - High Roller - Southern Girls - I Want You To Want Me - California Man - Ain't That A Shame - Clock Strikes Ten
SOURCE: WEBCAST==>CD, SBD
COMMENTS: Great quality. Recorded from JamTV webcast with 128k connection and digitally mastered. Does contain 2-second gaps between songs, but these were necessary when being editted to one CD - no songs are omitted, just some stage banter, but the crowd noise is low so the gaps mostly seem like the quiet part between songs. VERY well worth it - these are historical shows!

COMMENTS: This is the best version of the Jack Douglas sessions that I've ever heard. For those 8 tracks it's worth it, but the cool, if somewhat scratchy, versions of the other songs are a bonus.
