Alanis Morissette, this canadian singer that has sold 20 million copies of Jagged Little Pill, was born in Ottawa, at June 1st 1974. Her parents are named Alan Morissette and Gerogia Morissette. She also has two brothers. An older brother called Chad and a twin brother called Wade. Now she's the woman that has sold more copies of just one album. To comprove her talent, she won four Grammys ( best rock album, rock song, female rock vocalist and album of the year (1996)), and three MTV Video Music Awards (best new artist, best female video and best direction. All these awards came because Jagged Little Pill, but before Jagged Little Pill, Alanis released "Alanis"(MCA) in 1991 and "Now is the time" (MCA) in 1992.
Some curiosities about Alanis Morissette
*She studied ballet at seven and by the age of ten, she gave up her dolls and games, spending all her time and money creating her own single. She said at the time: "I want to prove to people that just because you're young, it doesn't mean you can't as much as adults can".
*Alanis released her first single, "Please stay with me", at 11.
*Alanis, before becoming a rockstar also appeared in TV and Cinema. When she was ten, she was a sitcom star on Canada's kids' cable show called "You can't do that on television"(the money earned in "You can't...", helped her releasing her first album). In "Just one of the girls", she played a singer that appears making a gig in the end.
*Her first two albums are just available in Canada. These albums weren't succesfully around the world, but were succesfully in Canada, what made Alanis become the Canada's Queen of Disco.
*When she went to the U.S.A., under the American laws, she was considered an "alien with a special talent".
*When she arrived in the U.S.A., she wasn't lucky, because she was introduced to her new country being robbed at gunpoint. And during a gig, someone entered her dressing room and took, besides $8,000, also took some tapes with unfinished songs of Alanis.
*Almost all the songs of Jagged Little Pill were writen in about 15-45 minutes
*So, who's the guy she sings about in "You oughta know"?Alanis' ex-boyfriend, Dave Coulier, star of US sitcom "Full House", admitted the harsh tune was about him. NOTE: This may just be a rumour, because Alanis once said thta the guy she was referring to, would not know that it was dedicated to him
*Among the thousands of fan letter she gets in her mailbox, Alanis once found a letter from one of her biggest fans: Alicia Silverstone.
