Noel
Gallagher -
Lead Guitar, Back-up Vocals, Songwriter
Noel Gallagher is the sole songwriter of Oasis, and basically the back bone of the group. Though he has been coined "the best songwriter of the 90's, if not all time", Noel still feels worried about his song writing abilities. Noel once stated, "I'm not John Lennon. I'm not trying to say anything. I'm just trying to entertain people." Noel also says he has a problem with lyrics. In a recent interview, Noel said, "In an ideal world I wouldn't write them, I can't stand it. It's the one thing that pisses me off. Yet people continue to try and 'understand' my words that often don't really mean anything at all. It's just words that sound good." Though Liam is the main frontman of the band, Noel does occasionally sing lead vocals.
Liam
Gallagher - Lead Vocals
Liam Gallagher is the frontman of Oasis and also the younger,
more "troublesome" brother of Noel. Known for his powerful voice,
it is obvious that Liam gives the band the edge that it needs. Liam has
been with Oasis ever since the beginning, yet he refuses to write any songs.
At one point in his life, Liam did write a song called "Take
Me", but the song was never released.
Paul
"Bonehead" Arthurs - Rhythm Guitar, Piano
Paul Arthurs is the rhythm guitarist for Oasis. People
have often wondered just how he stumbled upon his nick name, "Bonehead".
There is a new story with every interview. Other than that, Paul has played
the piano in "Don't Look Back In Anger". He also wrote one song
called "Bonehead's Bank Holiday" which only appears on the vinyl
version of (What's the Story) Morning Glory?.
Alan
White - Drums
Alan White has provided Oasis with a solid drum beat ever
since he joined the band. Alan replaced Tony McCarrol (former drummer of
Oasis) after meeting Noel for only 30 seconds. Although Alan has managed
to maintain a quiet presence in the band as far as the press are concerned,
he is starting to get recognized in the street. In an interview printed
in the February 1996 issue of Rhythm Magazine, Alan stated, "I
was in Sainsbury's yesterday and a little kid came up and asked me for
my autograph. I signed about four or five autographs. It was a little bit
of a buzz."
Paul
"Guigsy" McGuigan - Bass Player
Paul McGuigan is one of the original members of Oasis, formerly called The Rain. Not much is known about him, except the fact that he is a heavy pot smoker and has a passion for football. Guigsy does not cause much of a media frenzy, but the media does recognize that he is there. In an interview with MTV America, the only shot of Guigsy seen was him, in his black coat sitting next Liam. Even though all of Oasis was supposed to contribute to the interview, Guigsy just sat there, twiddling his thumbs, quietly laughing at Liam telling the press they haven't seen anything yet. Despite all that, it is no secret that Guigsy has talent. As you listen to the music of Oasis, concentrate on the bass lines, and you will know what I mean.
