E-mail by Simon Chesterfield
Hello, this is Simon Chesterfield here, still reeling a bit after seeing your Chesterfields site for the first time!
And you ask for more information about The Chesterfields, so here goes:
1. The Chesterfields at Glastonbury: The 2nd photo is David, Simon and Andy (Strickland, ex-The Loft) and the 3rd photo is Simon and David (not Mark, he hadn't joined yet).
2. The Chesterfields at Ashton Court: The 'guy' in the red t-shirt in photo 3 is Andy Strickland again.
3. The Chesterfields never played the Womad Festival. The photos you have are from the Evercreech for Africa Festival, and the 'fifth guy' is Rodney Allen. Please tell me, where can I get hold of the bootleg CD of this gig?
4. Do you want any more photographs for your site? I could e-mail you some jpegs if you want, or do you have any questions you need answering?
5. What are your favourite Chesterfields songs? Did you come
and see us
play? Have I met you?
6. On Friday 17th December 1999, I did my first gig for a long time, with a new band 'Simon Chesterfield and the Ideal Husbands', supporting Grape (my brother's band, also persuaded to come out of hiding) at the Electric Broom Cupboard in Sherborne (near Yeovil), playing the following set: Something, Looking at him, Taste, Last Train to Yeovil, Driving by, Ask Johnny Dee, The End, Thanks a million. It was intended as a one-off performance, but everybody enjoyed it so much that I've been persuaded to carry on! So now I'm looking for labels around the world to release new songs, so if you know somebody who might be interested, please get in touch! I'd like to release 5 different pop singles (with Terrible Hildas sleeves!) on the same day in 5 different countries (ideally UK, USA, Japan, Germany and Spain) - any ideas?
Happy New Year!
Lots of love, Simon
