Atlantic Records' resident genius, Jon Brion, missed his regular Friday night gig at Largo in West Hollywood on Oct. 16, but that doesn't mean he wasn't keeping busy.

The former Grays member spent some time in a Los Angeles studio last week recording a song with Veruca Salt co-founder Nina Gordon for her upcoming solo debut. Gordon is heading to Hawaii in November to work on the album with producer Bob Rock (who produced Veruca Salt's last album, Eight Arms to Hold You).

No word from Geffen on when it will be done, but expect to hear Letters to Cleo bassist Scott Riebling -- who produced Gordon's demos for the album -- and guitarist Michael Eisenstein, along with former Cleo and Veruca Salt drummer Stacy Jones on the still- untitled album...
