Stacy Jones- A Future PumpkinHead?

March 31,1998 - Rocktropolis

Hmmmm. Is drummer Stacy Jones (of Veruca Salt and Letters to Cleo fame) auditioning for the Smashing Pumpkins' vacant drum slot? According to Kay Hanley, lead singer of Letters to Cleo, that seems to be the case. At a recent Letters to Cleo show, Hanley said something -- onstage -- to the effect of his trying out for Billy Corgan & Company. However, a spokesperson for the Pumpkins couldn't confirm or deny the report. As previously reported, the Pumpkins' forthcoming album, Adore, features the drum work of three skinsmen -- Matt Walker(Filter), Matt Cameron(Soundgarden), and Joey Waronker(Beck) -- but the band has yet to hire a permanent player behind the kit for their forthcoming six- to eight- week tour, which is tentatively slated to include many European dates...

UPDATE: The Pumpkins have since hired Kenny Arnoff-of John Mellancamp fame to pound the drum kit on their ADORE tour.
